In the past couple of days I have attempted two Google searches to find Forum posts I had made to refresh my memory for possible replies to others. In both cases, Google did not return the posts I sought, but identical searches on The Duck had them close to the top.
Example 1: 'site:community.logos.com NT361'
Google: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Acommunity.logos.com+NT361&hl=en&ei=YsFbZOPJKJC1qtsPy4aG6AY&ved=0ahUKEwjjgs-ckev-AhWQmmoFHUuDAW0Q4dUDCBA&uact=5&oq=site%3Acommunity.logos.com+NT361&gs_lcp=Cgxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAQA0oECEEYAVAAWABg9BBoAXAAeACAAQCIAQCSAQCYAQDAAQE&sclient=gws-wiz-serp This did not return my older post (see Duck results below), nor did it return Kevin Purcell's recent post on the same subject.
DuckDuckGo: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site%3Acommunity.logos.com+NT361&va=f&t=ha&ia=web Returned my older post (second hit) and Kevin's recent post (first hit). My older post: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/205232.aspx
Example 2: 'site:community.logos.com parallel pericope bible'
Google: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Acommunity.logos.com+parallel+pericope+bible&hl=en&source=hp&ei=YclbZKrPKKaGwbkPyfSB0AM&iflsig=AOEireoAAAAAZFvXcRk5B37JfqT7p9bDgQKOy-PwQDW2&ved=0ahUKEwjqg9rsmOv-AhUmQzABHUl6ADoQ4dUDCAs&uact=5&oq=site%3Acommunity.logos.com+parallel+pericope+bible&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAM6CwgAEIAEELEDEIMBOgsILhCKBRCxAxCDAToRCC4QgAQQsQMQgwEQxwEQ0QM6DgguEIAEELEDEMcBENEDOgsILhCABBCxAxCDAToICC4QgAQQsQM6CwguEIAEEMcBEK8BOgsIABCKBRCxAxCDAToLCC4QrwEQxwEQgAQ6EQguEIMBEMcBELEDENEDEIAEOggIABCABBCxAzoFCAAQgAQ6EQguEIMBEK8BEMcBELEDEIAEOgsILhCABBDHARDRAzoTCC4QgwEQxwEQsQMQ0QMQgAQQCjoECAAQAzoHCAAQgAQQCjoOCC4QigUQsQMQxwEQrwFQAFjVeWCBkQFoAnAAeACAAZ8BiAGWHpIBBDQ1LjWYAQCgAQE&sclient=gws-wiz Did not return my old post (see Duck below).
DuckDuckGo: https://duckduckgo.com/?va=f&t=hj&q=site%3Acommunity.logos.com+parallel+pericope+bible&ia=web My post was the second non-ad hit. (https://community.logos.com/forums/t/126999.aspx )
Note: I checked the 'Tools' option to make sure there weren't any persistent options made in the past, and I did the same Google searches in an 'Incognito' window, just in case.
EDIT: I should add that Example 2 could be found via Google in the past.
Points of post:
- Be aware of possible incompleteness of Google results.
- Maybe Google has made some esoteric changes to their search engine and I didn't get the memo (it has happened).
- I don't want to put anyone to work, but is there some quickly discernible, obvious flaw in the experiment?
- In which case: it's hard to say it, I hate to say it, but it's probably me.
