Praying—with the Saints—to God Our Mother is the resource. Currently, it's on the eBooks side of Faithlife.
Normally, I don't get too wound up on the genders, especially in the Old Testament. What was, was. However, this book has a uniqueness worth mentioning from an 'original languages' perspective.
- The author moves through the hebrew, then greek, latin, and syriac on feminine usage relative to the Diety. The surprising part are the ancient translators, and how they tracked.
- Secondarily (and I'm totally ignorant), is how the language would be picked up among the semitic group of listeners/readers.
- And finally, how Christian writers approached it (mainly Catholic, some Eastern Orthodox).
The actual purpose of the book is relative to prayer, and how the metphors can contribute.
It's a bit edgy, but surprising.
