Okay, I got to think about the relationship between thought experiments and Bible interpretation ... and the facts that I had read nothing on the topic. I've found that Ellen van Wolde and Robert M. Price seem to have written on the topic but I know nothing about either of them. Do you have any recommendations from resources you're actually familar with?
An example of a thought experiment in Bible interpretation thanks to Google's Bard:
[quote]
- Thought experiments can be used to explore the implications of different interpretations of a passage. For example, if we are interpreting the passage "God is love," we can use a thought experiment to explore the implications of different interpretations of the word "love." We could ask ourselves, "What would it mean if God were not love?" or "What would it mean if God were only love?"
