I would like to propose a better way of navigating Tabs and panes using the keyboard. As of right now the only shortcut I know of is Ctr + Tab and CTR Shift + Tab. I would like to suggest the following in addition to this option.
CTRL + SHIFT + > = Next Pane (and an obvious highlight over the pane that is moved to. May I suggest fluorescent Green :-)?)
CTRL+ Shift + < = Previous Pane (Ditto the comment above)
CTRL + > = Next tab in current Pane
Ctrl + < = Previous tab in current pane.
I would suggest that Panes move forward according to the order of activation and tabs move forward according to order within the pane. the reason for this is that tabs are easily rearranged within the pane whereas panes are not easily rearranged.
