The Origin of Dispensationalism

I am looking to find the origin of dispensationalism. Any advice?

One of the very best resources that goes into great depth on this subject and is available in Logos Bible Software is the three-volume work by George N. H. Peters titled The Theocratic Kingdom. Peters thoroughly did his homework! I first learned of this resource when I took a course in Old Testament Prophecy from Professor Stewart Custer. I followed his advice to buy the set for myself. I am thankful for his advice and thankful that Logos includes it in its offerings.Christian Alexander said:I am looking to find the origin of dispensationalism. Any advice?

Ancient Dispensational Truth: Refuting the Myth that Dispensationalism is New: Morris, James C.: 9781945774294: Amazon.com: Books0 -

This has been on community pricing for years and nobody is bidding on it. But here's your answer.

Books Search:
(heading:origin OR largetext:origin) NEAR dispensationalism
that found 12 Journal articles in my Logos library, which has Master Journal Bundle 8.1 (2,490+ vols.)

This is a new resource. I am about half way through and have found it very informative. I studied at Moody Bible Institute in the late 80's (we referred to it as Dallas Theological Seminary Lite) and know some of dispensationalism from the inside, but I am really enjoying the book. (although it is not a defense of dispensationalism if that is what you are looking for)

It is a new book. I wish the two titles above and this new one listed here could be made available in LOGOS.
The book is Discovering Dispensationalism: Trascing the Development of Dispensational Thought from the First to the Twenty-First Century by Cory M Marsh, published May 29, 2023

I second this work. It's very informative and a nice read.

Another recent addition that you might find interesting is "Discovering Dispensationalism: tracing the Development of Dispensational Thought From the First to the Twenty-First Century. It isn't in Logos but you can find it on Amazon.

Just continue to read Scripture, if it's not there then it's not true.

Now that is the truth Whyndell!

The Bible.
Yes, I'm being smarmy. And while I'm not an ultra-dispensationalist (more of a hybrid between Dispensationalism and Covenant Theology - yes, it can be done), I do find it sad that some teachings I see as clearly presented in the Scriptures have fallen into disrepute over the course of the last 20 to 30 years. But that's the history of the church. Doctrines rise and wane. But the Word of the Lord abides forever.
