Good day to all. Based on this resource Church History In Plain Langue there are the 4th edition which is a logos edition and then there is the newer 5th edition which is a readers edition. What is the difference between the 2 and which one is worth getting. I would like to hear your thoughts.

Thank you.

    Depends:

    - The volume is really a reader-type book; not much benefit to tagging beyond church events/theologies (the various names and theologies will show in a search).

    - The 5th edition seems to expand at the traditional margins (below)

    - The book is a classic and will likely get further development (in Logos).

Church History in Plain Language, 5th ed.

    Why a Fifth Edition?

For almost 40 years, Church History in Plain Language has been perhaps the best one-volume introduction to the story of the Christian movement from its inception to the present. But because the flow of history is a never-ending stream, it needs updating. This 5th edition highlights the development of Christianity from the earliest centuries in Asia, India, and Africa, includes the profiles of 55 notable women and non-Europeans who made significant contributions along the way, and summarizes recent developments such as the growth and influence of Christianity in the Global South and the effects of technology on the life of the church.

Thank you for the reply, based on your experience as I see there is a price difference between 4 and 5 do you still prefer the 5th editio.

    That is a toughy.

I prefer getting outside the old Rome to London church axis, especially as it involves overcoming culture and language.

So, yes, 5th ed. But I don't know if indeed the extra coverage is significant. I can easily refund; not sure if you can.

I just get the normal 30 days refund which is not bad.
