Another tip of the day (TOTD) series for Logos/Verbum 10. They will be short and often drawn from forum posts. Feel free to ask questions and/or suggest forum posts you'd like to see included. Adding comments about the behavior on mobile and web apps would be appreciated by your fellow forumites. A search for "L/V 10+ Tip of the Day site:community.logos.com" on Google should bring the tips up as should this Reading List within the application.

This tip is inspired by the forum post: Charismatic theology books - Logos Forums

The site topics.logos.com contains one of FL's first attempts at user generated data - an attempt that failed to be successful. However, the reading list portion of the site has met with considerably more success despite a low user rate. It allows for users to collaborate on public readings lists. For the case used as an example, I will convert the suggestions offered in Charismatic theology books - Logos Forums into a reading list, adding a few related books that are in my library.

  • Go to topics.logos.com
  • search for Catholic charismatic to ensure I'm not duplicating an existing list
  • select create new page

  • I use the copy/paste/modify approach to the header material
  • The links to resources are in [[resource name >> URL]] | description or comment format which is what you get from the panel menu >> copy location as RL where RL stands for reading list. This works on tools and resources.

When I am done, I have entered what shows in the left panel and display on the right panel. When I like the results, I save them. Note that I have Verbum tools, Verbum books, web links to documents, and web links to bookstores which illustrates the versatility of the tool.

To view it in Logos/Verbum:

  • Open the Reading list tool
  • Search for Charismatic Catholic resources (the list I just made)
  • Select it - it opens in a narrow panel on the left. The resources have boxes for check marks so you can keep track of what you have read. The links are live so that a click will take you to the appropriate resource or location.

If you have additional resources related to or of interest to charismatic Catholic feel free to add them. Don't worry as it is easy to revert to an older version or for me to edit your entries to match my style ('cuz its under my name).

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
