What are some good resources on Marriage Expectations in Greco-Roman Antiquity?
What cultural background reference books do you have? Look at the topic in them and use their footnotes/bibliography to find additional materials.
I guess, whose expectations? You're generalizing again.
The most serious discussion is in Dictionary of Greek and Roman Antiquities which has separate in-depth articles on greek and roman marriages. Headwords are latin, but an english index. Although over a century old, so also the subject (ancient records).
Lots of interesting information. "Plato (l. c.) mentions ... the duty incumbent upon every individual to provide for a continuance of representatives to succeed himself as ministers of the Divinity (τῷ Θεῷ ὑπηρέτας ἀνθʼ αὑτοῦ παραδιδόναι)."
Separately, https://www.logos.com/product/45799/the-greco-roman-world-of-the-new-testament-era Is chatty but a chapter on family relations. Not recommended.
