This is a growing series. I had posted a couple of suggestions for the first two volumes (Genesis and Exodus), but now I've got a single thread on Feedbear for the series, which has grown to 5 books. Please consider voting for it. Hopefully more volumes will come along.
The number of people who identify as "normal" may not be a large niche. However, the extra-normal might be curious about what resources the other people would buy. Either way, consider voting.
Although the title may sniff of an agenda that this might dangle some surprising, new, simplistic answers for those lacking knowledge--the authors come with powerful degrees and interesting backgrounds. What was it like reading this book?
Here's an analogy: Remember film study in school? You'd watch a movie and it'd totally blow you away. Then you'd study the movie, and you'd see it in a whole new light. The movie still blows you away but now it makes heaps more sense! You suddenly understand the plot, and see how the movie is actually the filmmaker's commentary on the political and cultural issues of the day (and not a historically and scientifically accurate documentary). You also realise that there are some anachronisms and mistakes in the movie, but that doesn't make the movie bad, it actually helps you better understand the purpose of the movie and the mistakes actually make it more compelling and legitimate. Anyway, that's my analogy! This book is fantastic! A side note (due to my background): it makes the 6-day creationist arguments laughable. When you understand the ancient mindset and why the stories were written - those arguments become totally irrelevant (like, who cares - get a life!?). The book was easy to read and Enns' sarcasm just shines through and makes it super entertaining (you learn so much but have fun doing so). Thanks guys - great book, well done.
