Can't Filter Notes List

Hello all,

I'm trying to export a list of notes on a chapter of the Bible into Word. I can do this, but I have two problems with the export. 1) The notes are listed by date created, not by reference. When I try to select filter "by Reference" the option is greyed out, whether I have one note selected or many. 2) Since I take my notes in the LHB (Hebrew) the notes are exported with the anchored text only in Hebrew. Is there a way to change that to English? My notes do have anchors to Bible references (each note is anchored to Job 37:1; Job 37:2; Job 37:3, etc.). I've attached a picture to show what I'm talking about. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all for your help.

    bumping for an appropriate answer

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

    1) The notes are listed by date created, not by reference. When I try to select filter "by Reference" the option is greyed out, whether I have one note selected or many.

In order to sort by reference, you need to open the left sidebar and select a filter on a specific reference type. You will presumably want the Bible option in this case.

    2) Since I take my notes in the LHB (Hebrew) the notes are exported with the anchored text only in Hebrew. Is there a way to change that to English? My notes do have anchors to Bible references (each note is anchored to Job 37:1; Job 37:2; Job 37:3, etc.).

Each of your anchors include "LHB" after the reference. That means that you anchored the note to a text selection rather than the Bible reference, and that means that the anchor is specific to that resource rather than all resources with that reference. You get some leeway with the Corresponding Notes and Highlights visual filter in Bibles for which you have a reverse interlinear.

To fix this, you would have to go back and recreate the anchors on each note to be attached to the reference rather than a selection.

In order to prevent this in the future, make sure that you add notes by right clicking, selecting the Bible reference on the left side of the context menu, then creating the note using the option on the right side of the context menu.

Thank you, Andrew. I wasn't opening the left sidebar and selecting the proper filter. That enabled me to filter the notes in order of biblical reference! As you mentioned, my notes aren't anchored to references so that causes my second problem.

Unfortunately, this will be an enduring problem because I need to be able to take notes on words/phrases, not entire verses (sometimes I have 2-3 separate notes on a single verse). I hope Logos is able to anchor a note to a reference and the specific phrase that the user highlights in the future! If you happen to know how to do that, I would be even more indebted to you!

The Notes tool will let you add attachment points to any note. So, after adding a note to a word or phrase, you could add the verse as an additional attachment point. Unfortunately, this means that any highlighting or other marking will show up both on the word and the verse, which might not be what you want.

Beyond that, all I can suggest is to vote for a suggestion on the feedback website. Some of these existing suggestions match pretty well what you are requesting.

Thank you. I will check that out and consider writing some feedback if not too redundant.

    Thanks again
