Another tip of the day (TOTD) series for Logos/Verbum 10. They will be short and often drawn from forum posts. Feel free to ask questions and/or suggest forum posts you'd like to see included. Adding comments about the behavior on mobile and web apps would be appreciated by your fellow forumites. A search for "L/V 10+ Tip of the Day site:community.logos.com" on Google should bring the tips up as should this Reading List within the application.

This tip is inspired by the forum post: L/V 10+ Tip of the Day #227 Context Menu: Labels: Dream and Vision - Logos Forums

The turning point label has no special characteristics. However, it is important to understand the definition used for tagging as it may or may not match what you want in a specific situation. As the example shows, the call motif may be tagged as a turning point so equating turning point to conversion may not serve your purposes.

The data captured is:

 Turning Point

The Turning Points dataset annotates turning points in the Old Testament, deuterocanon, and New Testament. A turning point is a broad concept that includes a religious experience in a person’s, or group of people’s, life. The experience leads the person or group to make a positive change in their actions or beliefs.

• converted:... — Person or people who experience the turning point.
• event:... — The larger event providing the context for the turning point.
• proselytizers:... — The person or people responsible for the turning point.
• relatedConcept:... — Topic or concept associated with the turning point.
• religiousExperience:... — Type of experience characterized by the turning point (i.e., "following God’s commands").
• title:... — Title assigned to the turning point.

For example:

• turningPoint:* — Finds all of the turning points in the Bible.

My standard layout has nothing remarkable other than the choice to code all four together rather than as two pair of twos.

The search argument generated from the context menu is:

[quote]turningPoint:(converted:person:Peter AND event:event:"Jesus calls the first disciples" AND proselytizers:person:God AND proselytizers:person:Jesus AND relatedConcept:topic:Teacher AND religiousExperience:"being given a new name by God" AND title:topic:"Peter Follows Jesus")

There is a link to the Factbook entry or the left side panel facets get you there Concepts > Other > P > Perjury-Petition > Peter Follows Jesus

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
