3 John 15 CSB strange work possible BUG

When I try to choose the text of 3 John 15 CSB to insert a Bible note, I experience some weird behavior. A portion of the verse is selected, I right-click, and then I select the verse from the pop-up menu. But no matter how hard I try, it always chooses verses 14 and 15, not just verse 15.

Hmm, I can't reproduce this. I opened CSB to 3 John. I selected a portion of the verse ("we will talk face to face"), then right clicked on that selection, then I clicked "Reference 3 John 14" on the left side of the pop-up menu. It just selected verse 14, not 15.

I wonder if something is corrupted in that resource file on your computer. Try removing it from your computer (in the Library, right click on any field other than the title or icon and choose "Remove from this device") and then re-downloading it (right-click, Download) and wait for the index to get rebuilt.

Some translations combine verse 14 and 15 together as one verse. While the CSB does not do so, the HCSB apparently does.

What is your preferred Bible? Does it, as Sam suggests, combine verses 14-15? If so, what you are seeing may be the intended behavior.

He said CSB in both the subject line and in the text of his post, so I assumed he was using the CSB (Christian Standard Bible) and saw this problem in it.

I assumed this as well but I did not assume it was his preferred Bible. I know that is because in my tradition many of us have two preferred Bibles - one for its auditory properties and one for its academic properties. In my case the latter has a larger canon in a different order than the former. I often think something is strange only to discover it is in my mind not in Verbum ... I have forgotten what my preferred Bible is currently set to.

I assumed this as well but I did not assume it was his preferred Bible.

I didn't assume it was his preferred Bible either. (Though with his name being Christian, one could certainly understand him preferring Christian Standard Bible [;)]).

However I did assume that for the selection he was trying to do, it doesn't matter what your preferred Bible is. When you open a different one, the behaviors you see should be related to that Bible and its versification, not your preferred one. However I'm not about to temporarily set my preferred Bible to HCSB to test y'all's theory that his preferred bible might be causing this behavior in another bible. Or maybe he was mistaken in saying he was using CSB and maybe it really was HCSB, which would totally explain this behavior.

I can't duplicate the behavior he describes with either Bible having priority. I suspect his description is missing a variable.

It is impossible to not have a preferred Bible - there will be a default if you have not set it. When you hover over a reference, what translation is used in the popup?
