When will markup be available to be saved on the actual resource and not just a snapshot? It really would be incredible to be able to take notes like that.
This is a peer-to-peer forum so we don't know. As a matter of policy, this information is rarely available until the feature appears in a beta.
I have that feature in my own Bible software. I allow my customers (me) to make changes as they wish to the Bible text, but only one version (tisk, tisk), and only a copy (original kept original). But it's quite useful, since the changes I make (notes, re-wording, explanatory wording) show up in searches, and so forth. I could argue a little note icon is enough. Or a side-by-side text/notes is enough. But in-the-text is quite useful.

For clarification: I <think> the OP is talking about the ability in the iPadOS version of the app to draw on the screen, which creates a photograph of the page with the markups. Once created, these are no longer editable. Have you created something like this on your own for iPad?
For clarification: I <think> ...
I <think> you're right! Although mine is more efficient.
I’m sure it is! [:D]

OK, since we're on handwriting, and just commenting, I think the Kindle Scribe provides the best clue as to the do-ability in Logos (though not a screen-copy, due to dynamic text-flow). Amazon had to have spent a bunch on the Scribe, but it's hobbled; no Kindle books (essentially icons>display, and they had to know the marketing problem). I'd assume the limiter is cross-platform files or contracts. It's easy enough to tack-on visuals on the file-end, and re-do the front.
I just wonder if the Scribe will survive; I'd prefer a smaller/lighter version, The Logos mobile could easily enough, do the icon>visual like the Scribe does with Kindle books.
