Library Organization

Hey,

At the moment I have been Tagging all my books, which works great, however the order of Tags are based on the number of items in that section.

I'd like to have a way of organizing my books into groups which I can order.

For instance I'd like to group all my commentaries into folders and order them based of the order in the bible, for instance.

Commentaries: Genesis
Commentaries: Exodus
Commentaries: Leviticus
etc.

At the moment if I used Tags to do this they will all be out of order, and based on the number of commentaries I have on each book.

Any suggestions?

In what context are you seeing them out of order and based on the number of commentaries you have on each book?

If you click on the "My Tags" column heading in your Library, it will group all your books by tags, and they will be sorted alphabetically. Of course that won't work for bible book order, since Genesis would come after Exodus, etc. But you could rename your tags numerically so they'll sort correctly for you. For example:

Commentaries: 01 Genesis
Commentaries: 02 Exodus
Commentaries: 03 Leviticus
etc.

(I use two digits instead of just 1 for the single digit numbers, since I'm never sure whether software will be smart enough to sort 2 before 10 when using alphabetical sorting, but I know it will work correctly with 02 even if the software is very literalistic about sorting.)

Matt, I have found that tags work great for searches and to find specific resources. It sounds to me like you may be wanting something more. You may want to look at Favorites or Shortcuts if you are looking for folders and ways to change the order of your resources within those folders. The examples you gave would work well as folder titles.
