Another tip of the day (TOTD) series for Logos/Verbum 10. They will be short and often drawn from forum posts. Feel free to ask questions and/or suggest forum posts you'd like to see included. Adding comments about the behavior on mobile and web apps would be appreciated by your fellow forumites. A search for "L/V 10+ Tip of the Day site:community.logos.com" on Google should bring the tips up as should this Reading List within the application.

This tip is inspired by the forum post: TIP: Fixing Those Pesky Tab Abbreviations - Logos Forums

You're likely not to see this issue, if your layout is 3 columns or less.  But more than that, and a few tabs, and Logos goes into 'abbreviation' mode.

If there's no pre-existing abbreviation for the resource (book), it takes the first letter of the words in the title.  So, you have 'DEL'.  That'd be Dictionary of Ecclesiatical Latin!  Pretty obvious, right?

Going to the library and putting in an abbreviation is a headache finding it.Sad

But, clicking on the resource's 3-dot menu (right-side) leads to 'Information'.Yes

Then scroll down to Abbreviation ... type in something meaningful.  Click 'Done' and ... you're done!

I've ended up doing a lot of these ... happens quite a bit from opening a search result.

Bonus Points #1:  Your abbreviation shows up in the popups for that resource, in other books.  Instead of the mystery letters!

Bonus Points #2: In your library, if you often want to pull a book quickly, your abbreviation is recognized in the filter box.  Or you can also edit the title too.  I often pull up Charlesworth's Pseudepigrapha ... slow going, spelling.  OPT1 is faster!
