Managing focus across multiple monitors

I have my main Logos application open on one monitor and a floated pane on the other. On the first monitor I have another application - such as a web browser - on "top" of the Logos application.

If I close the floated pane, then the main Logos application on the first monitor comes to the front of the screen and obscures the other application.

I find this non-intuitive, is this how it is supposed to work?

I can confirm that this is how it works for me and it is not desirable. I'm running Win 7; I suppose this could be an OS quirk but I doubt it.

in 4.0d, it works that way with a single monitor. When closing a floating window (even if you have several floating windows) it always brings up L4s main window even if i had the browser open under the floating window.

it may have to do with floating windows being child processes off the parent (main window). And when closing a child the parent gets the focus.
