After several delays in its release, the Bible listed here Liturgy and Life Study Bible | Logos just arrived. Points of interest (some of interest only in hardcopy):
- The reference for the top of the page is written vertically in the upper left making it much faster to page through to a reference. Well chosen, descriptive pericope titles. Excellent page layout.
- Notes very much geared to the reader. For example, of Isaiah 37:17: Behind your back you cast all my sins: figurative language to express the divine forgiveness of sins, as if God no longer saw or cared about them; Isaiah 39:6 Because Judah preferred to follow a pro-Babylonian policy, instead of trusting in the Lord, it would later be exiled to Babylon.
- Summary/paraphrase/comments on key verses. For example, Isaiah 38:20 To strengthen the prayer, the people offer to play music in the house of the Lord; Isaiah 40:9 The return of the exiles will herald good tidings of God's protection. This chapter is much beloved during Advent.
- Two additional types of notes beyond those mentioned above. List of all liturgical use of the passage including everything from antiphon to reading across all liturgical books and cross-references.
