Quotes database

I am wanting to make my quotes database in logos and I don’t know how to do this.

I am wanting to be able to reference a scripture or theme for the quote, then use it in my sermon process. This needed a to be continually edited and added to, so I don’t know if a personal book would be best.

The issue with this becomes when it’s not in a reading source that I have. So say if I hear a quote from a sermon I hear, I have no way to record that quote into logos. I love the feature, but I don’t think I am able to add outside clippings

It looks like when I am trying to add a clipping, my button is greyed out.

If you select some text in a book, the button should be enabled.

Clicking Add clipping then will create a clipping containing the selected text.

My understanding was that clippings could only be created from Logos resource in your library.

for the record, I think this is the best is to create a notebook for quotes or illustrations. in here I can add a note for a quote and have it in searchable. https://logos-daily.com/2022/07/05/sermon-illustrations-logos-bible/

Here (https://community.logos.com/forums/p/217348/1265655.aspx#1265655) Dave gave an idea for creating Headings in Clippings using Personal Books. Don't know whether you can apply this principle to your setting. I'm wondering if you want to try Personal Books suggestion of Dave so that you can keep all of your quotes in a Clippings document.

You have several choices:

Personal Book: you can edit your source file as often as needed before compiling, and multiple docx files are easily linked to a PB.

you can use Heading styles and/or PB Headwords to index your quotes.

Notes: you can use multiple notebooks to categorise your quotes and each Note can have tags to illustrate the content

With care, you can easily find quotes from the Filters sidebar (under Tags and Notebook).

Clippings: these would be the least flexible and most difficult to search.

A PB would be my choice.
