There are many precedents for this voice being a person e.g. Rev 1.12, 11.12. In all, 20 "voices" have been assigned to a person whilst 40 have not been assigned a person.

I think there is an inconsistency at Rev 4.1 where "the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet" is person:"Voice instructing John" whilst at Rev 1:10 "a loud voice like a trumpet saying" is person:Jesus. Also, at Rev 11.15 "there were loud voices in heaven" is person:"Voice instructing John" when the voices are proclaiming, not instructing.
