Basics of Biblical Hebrew 3rd Ed Van Pelt

Has anyone used the 3rd edition to learn Hebrew and could help me understand how to work on the vocabulary?

For example in the chapter 6 vocabulary one of the words has the following entry:

בְּתוֹךְ in the midst (middle) of, inside (319); combination of (prep) בְּ and (n) תָּ֫וֶךְ (middle, center); also מִתּוֹךְ (68×) and אֶל־תּוֹךְ (22×)

Do you make just one vocabulary card for the first word or do you make 3 so you also learn the 2 alternate words? I've looked at different card sets in Memrise. There are several and they each do it differently. Is it helpful to learn each alternate with a separate vocab card or is it sufficient to just learn the first one?

Rob I am a proponent for writing out and making your own vocabulary cards. Not all cards from all authors are the same. Since you bring up Van Pelt seek him out and ask him directly and I am sure he will help you. You should focus on the vocabulary in the grammar book you are in.

And then there are people like myself who don't think vocabulary cards are the best way to learn another language ... instead read, read, read, read until you can read passages with the vocabulary with ease ... and no hints.

I started with this but found it too difficult on my own without a class. I found “hebrews for reading comprehension“ to be more useful to me. You may want to take a look.

David Thomas. I started looking more closely at the list posted and it looks like it is actually the vocab for the 2nd edition. At least in chapter 6, which is the one I'm currently working on, there is a significant difference between the 2nd and 3rd editions.

I have the Logos version of the 3rd edition. Is there a way to make a list like that from the book or workbook or was that list made manually, one entry at a time? Or does it come with the book and I'm just missing it?
