CAUTION: MacOS Sonoma is NOT yet compatible with Logos
To those who are going to respond reflexively: Yes, I know that there are a couple of threads that already point this out. This is for new users wanting information, not for those who have been watching all along.
The title is the post: if you install the Sonoma beta at this time (August 9, 2023), every version of Logos will crash.
Several of us run MacOS Betas on external drives to test new software releases. I install and test every upgrade; I assume others do as well. We promise to let you know as soon as Sonoma and Logos play nice with each other. Until then, Logos will be unusable.
Again, for those who are new to the forums:
1) Logos will not officially say when (or even if) Logos will work with Sonoma.
2) We are confident that Logos WILL eventually work with Sonoma because they always release a compatible version.
3) If you installed the Sonoma beta and find yourself in a bind, you have two options. One is to use the Logos web app. The other is reinstalling MacOS Ventura, which WILL require erasing your hard drive and reinstalling everything.

Version 27 was working, at least my copy was, until I installed the newest Public Beta yesterday. Now it doesn't start.
I do most of my heavy lifting on my other machine, so it's not that big of a deal, given that Sonoma has significant changes in it. Hopefully, we'll get an update soon; but this is the risk you take when you install a Beta.

Thanks. Did not know until now.

Sort of related: What's the common wisdom / practice for Logos users regarding automatic updates of stable macOS releases? On or Off? That is, when Sonoma is released as the official stable OS, should the Logos user wait and check the Forum for problem alerts?

Every year I saw that I am going to wait before I install any iOS or macOS updates. I say ill wait until the weekend and make sure nothing catastrophic happens...
But come release day at 12:59 pm I'm in settings → general → software update, hitting refresh as rapidly as I can.

Haha … You just made me feel better about myself with hitting the refresh button! I do the same stupid thing, and I couldn’t tell you why. Most of the times, I might ony experiece small bugs that I can work around, but Beta 5 has blown up my Logos which hurts. I am working on a research paper that I am sure Logos could help with. Instead, google is presently my good friend.
Blessings,
Michael

Greg has some valid points pertaining to working with Beta software. If you go forward, another tip for you all is to back up your OS with Time Machine. I have used it to revert to previous versions with minimal effort. It’s a great program. I could probably do that now to get my Logos working again, and it would save me time over a fresh install, but I do not feel like putting forth the time to revert to a previous version. Oh well … come next version, Logos will probably work again. On Beta 4, I had no issues other than some periodic slowness.
Blessings,
Michael

To those using the Developer Beta of MacOs14 Sonoma, I have been online with a representative of the technical team regarding the crashing of Logos Software, not being able to log on, or enter the software. I have only had this issue since Beta 5 and Betas 1 to 4 did not have this issue. I even thought my computer was corrupt. It is not, it is an issue that Logos is aware of. There is however a workaround.
To Chrome users there is an option that Google has developed in which you can install a web app, which almost replicates the installation of the Desktop app. So in Safari you go into Logos.com and enter in with Log in details, then opt to open the web app, copy the URL and go over to Chrome where in the address field you paste into it, then you ask Chrome to install it as a web app in the icons in the address field. I hope this helps, the team at Logos know it is an issue and are working, however with the Betas, you never quite sure what you are dealing with. It may be that they will wait to the RTM of Sonoma to release an updated Mac Desktop version. I will keep watch on this forum to know when that release will be.

Logos won't officially support Sonoma until after Sonoma is formally released. Logos will eventually release a version that is compatible. It would be best to wait until people on the forums report back.

I know, brother. I feel like Willy Wonka: "The suspense is terrible . . . I hope it lasts!" I made room on my internal SSD to create a second volume to run Sonoma, which allows me to quickly restart, update whatever is new, and give it a shot.

I'd be willing to bet it's Sonoma that will change by release time, not Logos.

I hope that you are also complaining to Sonoma Developers about the incompatibility between its Beta versions. Beta testing is a two way street and you know that Logos will not change until Sonoma settles down to an RTM.

Just to be clear, there's not an ounce of complaint in my posts; I'm merely reporting so that less experienced users don't install Sonoma and learn the hard way that Logos becomes a digital paperweight. I've filed feedback with Apple.

I hadn't taken them that way, Gregory. The 'you" was in the plural, and a more neutral 'complaint' would have been clearer.

Logos is working up to beta 2. But crashed after beta 3...

Sorry for the repeated post, but I think it's better to over-announce: As of today Logos beta 28.0.18 appears to work with Sonoma Version 14.0 Beta (23A5312d). Even the three-vertical-dot menu is working.
That being said, as long as Sonoma is in beta anything can happen, and users should NOT install Sonoma as their sole OS until it is formally supported by Logos. I have installed Sonoma on a second volume on my MacBook Pro, so that I can switch easily to Ventura when necessary.

Yes, I can confirm the latest Logos Beta is also working for me! Wow - what a surprise
Thanks for relaying the information and the URL to the beta on the other thread.
Blessings,
Michael

Do the links at https://community.logos.com/forums/p/217820/1268217.aspx#1268217 help?

The latest public beta of MacOS Sonoma seems to be compatible with Logos. It is no longer crashing on app startup.

Is there any reason you can't install the update? (I haven't read the whole thread)

Updated Sonoma today in the UTM VM but didn't get Logos beta updated. So far it has been unusable no matter what Sonoma beta or Logos beta. Crossing my fingers that it will work this time.
