I am searching for cognition as a lingustic theory in Lexham Bible Dictionary and other dictionaries. I cannot find any major articles. Can someone suggest a search string?
Have you searched your entire library and not just dictionary?
I am searching for cognition ... Can someone suggest a search string?
Enter cognition into the search box of a Books search or an All search. When I do that for a Books search I end up with lots of possibilities from my library. My results (statistically):
All Books 4,355 results in 2,251 articles in 403 resources
Your results will differ depending on the resources that are in your library. Start there and see what you have; review the resources that are offered and see where that takes you.
Yes I have only 213 hits.
Have you searched your entire library and not just dictionary? Yes I have only 213 hits.
If you've reviewed all of those 213 hits and none of them seems to give you what you're looking for, it's not because you are using the wrong search technique in Logos, it's because what you're looking for isn't in your Logos library. It's not a particularly biblical or theological concept anyway. Not everything you're researching can be found in Logos. Search the internet via Google or Bing.
When I google for "cognition as a linguistic theory" I get 0 direct hits, but Google knows enough to propose other hits by trying it without the quotes. And I find things with "cognition" and "linguistic theory" mentioned in close proximity, and I discover right away that there is a field called "cognitive linguistics". Search for that phrase on the Internet and you'll find a lot of material. You could even take that new knowledge and go back into Logos and search for "cognitive linguistics". I got tons of hits in my Library for that. You might not get as many, since your library is likely smaller, but it should be something.
