I was asking myself a reasonable question: Why is 3 Maccabees treated as canonical by all the churches that use the LXX canon except the Western Church? In trying to track this down, I discovered that there are three separate books called "3 Maccabees"
- The 3 Maccabees of the LXX in Greek
- The 3 Maccabees of some Armenian Bibles called the Armenian 3 Maccabees
- The 3 Maccabees of some Slavonic Bibles called the Slavonic (or Slavic) 3 Maccabees
But Logos simply doesn't want to help me explore this further ... in fact I had to use other tools to even get this far. But now I am questioning some of what I know about the development of the canon ... are the books sharing the name actually referring to the same text? [Another example short vs. long Acts.]
