Why is Babylon shown in the Atlas as miles away from the Euphrates? I always was taught that the Euphrates passes thru Babylon.

What map are you looking at? The pre-patriarchal map shows it on the river. Are you sure you are looking at Babylon the city not Babylon the country?
I'm looking at the Atlas tool. It shows Babylon the city about 8 miles away from the river.

You have to zoom in to see how Babylon is quite a bit off the Euphrates. (7-8 miles).
I measure it as a little under 5 miles while on the Google satellite map the ruins of the old city of Babylon are closed to one mile. I guess the basic question we need answered is where in the Old City is the Logos dot meant to represent? and second, how much, if any, has the river shifted?

We do know that the Medes and Persians diverted the Euphrates to conquer Babylon. Maybe thats the reason. That’s a long diversion, though.
