This is on the Mac; I don't know how the Windows version handles this.
My layout (for the last 10+ years or so!) uses multiple windows ... main tools, OT/NT windows, dictionaries, commentaries, and current reading.
Sometimes I want to temporarily save a view, but not the hassle of a new name, loosing my current 'name' in view, etc.
The (tiny) trick, is to select the window of significance, and use the keyboard shortcut for save. In the layout views, the layout name doesn't change (of course), but the little thumbnail does ... so you can easily locate it (versus try to remember the time on several).
Also handy when you want to load to s specific window in view (in my case, my reading window).
