a few questions regarding logos before I buy

ok so if I buy the study package now and later decide to buy the portfolio edition will there be a reduced price for the portfolio edition since I already have some of the books out of it? Also I have a mac(yes I know 4 doesn't come out for it until october) but if I ever got a pc would I be able to use the same package on that? And could I use both the mac and the pc at the same time? I heard about a synch between idevices and computer but I didn't hear anything mentioned about between computers. And one final question is there some kind of online reader that I can use for computers that don't have the logos package installed on them?

Thanks for any answers! I just want to get these questions out of the way before I actually buy anything!

Regarding upgrading...
Yes, Logos will always take into consideration what you already own. For instance, Portfolio lists for $4,290 on the site. To upgrade straight from Scholar's, which is what I have, gives me a price of $3,660.05. However, the site also takes into consideration the books that I have bought outside my package. So the custom price in my case is $2,928.04. That number will be higher or lower for others, depending on what they have.

That being said, it is always a good idea to call the Logos sales department directly. I have dealt with a guy named Jim-Ray Higginson. He has always searched for a better deal for me. It is no guarantee, but it is worth the call.

As far as Logos for Mac and PC:
You will absolutely be able to use both at no extra charge. The basic engine is free. Just download it to your other computer, and sign in. It will set everything up for you from there. Please remember that the idea behind the license is one per user. You can have it on multiple computers if you are the only user. Also remember that the Mac version will not have complete feature parity until the October release. Actually, there will be some minor things missing even then, but they will come soon after.

Now to your question about an online reader.
There is a beta version online but I don't have it bookmarked. It gives you access to much of your library in an interface that is similar to the desktop version. Someone will chime in with the link I am sure. I just have not had a use for it yet. But it looks very promising.

There is also library.logos.com which is designed to be accessed though a mobile phone browser. There is an iPhone/iPad app that has a limited feature set.

One note about these internet based approaches, they do not have access to the entire Logos catalog. Logos has had to approach publishers with contract emendations to convince publishers to agree to distribute the books this way. Personally, I have about 74% of my library available at biblia.com/library.logos.com.

I bought the Scholars Silver package to begin with and then realized I would be better suited with the Platinum package 2 days later. I recommend calling Logos and they can work everything out over the phone very easily!

The Mac version is now in Beta testing and is a B7. Many users already find this version to be very useful (and stable) for their use. So you don't have to wait until October, you can start using the Mac version today.
