Life Application Study Bible notes

Well here's something that seems very close to what many have requested. I wonder if there's much difference if any and whether the notes will happily sync with a "normal" Bible. I also wonder if this means we might see the normal version of the notes soon.
https://www.logos.com/product/256529/chronological-life-application-study-bible-notes
My only reservation at present is the price, as I already own in another app and so couldn't really justify $30 at this stage. But I'll put in my wishlist when launched and hope for a sale.

Olive Tree had it on sale recently for $14.99 and you get two files: 1. Text and 2. Notes. I bought a bunch on sale not long ago.

Do the notes synch if you have a normal Bible in the Bible window,

I don't know what you mean by "normal" but you are not restricted to any particular translation - there is no "study Bible" there is only Bible+study notes
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

What I mean is these notes are described as Chronological Life Application Study Bible Notes. I would intend to use with a conventional Bible rather a chronological Bible.

As it is not yet released, I can't check the indexes to be sure ...

DAL might have a clue based on his Olive Tree version. I have plenty of Bibles and Study Bible Notes in Olive Tree but no chronological Bibles or Notes. I imagine the Gospels may be the area where the notes may go awry as the Chronological Bible probably doesn't stick to neat chapter divisions.

Paul,
I just checked the Notes and used a regular NKJV and it works fine. Notes move along with whatever Bible version I choose.

I have this in Kindle. I find that with regard to the Old Testament the focus is mainly on the chronology and a large number of the notes are basic, background and historical, not much application.
For example, the notes on Genesis 6:
Gen 6:1-4 Some people have thought that the “sons of God” were fallen angels. But the “sons of God” were probably not angels because angels do not marry or reproduce ( Matt 22:30; Mark 12:25). Some scholars believe this phrase refers to the descendants of Seth who intermarried with Cain’s evil descendants. This would have weakened the good influence of the faithful and increased moral depravity in the world, resulting in an explosion of evil.
Gen 6:3 “Their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years” has been interpreted by some commentators to mean that God was allowing the people of Noah’s day 120 years to change their sinful ways. God shows his great patience with us as well ( 2 Pet 3:8-9). He is giving us time to quit living our way and begin living his way, the way he shows us in his Word. While 120 years may seem like a long time, eventually the time ran out, and the floodwaters swept across the earth. Your time also may be running out ( 2 Pet 3:10-14). Turn to God to forgive your sins. You don’t know how much time God will give you to turn to him, and once that time comes there will be no more opportunities.
Gen 6:4 These “giant Nephilites” were people probably nine or ten feet tall. This same Hebrew term was used to name a tall race of people in Numbers 13:33. Goliath, who was nine feet tall, appears in 1 Samuel 17. The giants used their physical advantage to oppress the people around them.
Gen 6:6-7 Does this mean that God regretted creating humanity? Was he admitting he made a mistake? No, God does not change his mind ( 1 Sam 15:29). Instead, he was expressing sorrow for what the people had done to themselves, as a parent might express sorrow over a rebellious child. God was sorry that the people chose sin and death instead of a relationship with him.
Gen 6:6-8 The people’s sin grieved God. Our sins break God’s heart as much as sin did in Noah’s day. Noah, however, pleased God, although he was far from perfect. We can follow Noah’s example and find “favor with the LORD” in spite of the sin that surrounds us.
Gen 6:9 Saying that Noah was “righteous” and “blameless” does not mean that he never sinned ( the Bible records one of his sins in Gen 9:20ff). Rather, it means that Noah wholeheartedly loved and obeyed God. For a lifetime he walked step by step in faith as a living example to his generation. Like Noah, we live in a world filled with evil. Are we influencing others or being influenced by them?
Gen 6:15 The boat Noah built was no canoe! Picture yourself building a boat the length of one and a half football fields and as high as a four-story building. The boat was exactly six times longer than it was wide—the same ratio used by modern shipbuilders. This huge boat was probably built miles from any body of water, but Noah was motivated by God’s promises and obeyed his commands.
Gen 6:18 When God said, “I will confirm my covenant,” he was making a promise. This is a familiar theme in Scripture—God making covenants with his people. How reassuring it is to know God’s covenant is established with us. He is still our salvation, and we are kept safe through our relationship with him. ( For more on covenants, see Gen 9:8-17; 12:1-3; 15:17-21.)
Gen 6:22 Noah got right to work when God told him to build the huge boat. Other people must have been warned by Noah about the coming disaster ( 2 Pet 2:5), but apparently they did not expect it to happen. Things haven’t changed much. Each day thousands of people are warned of God’s inevitable judgment, yet most of them don’t really believe it will happen. Don’t expect people to welcome or accept your message of God’s coming judgment on sin. Those who don’t believe in God will deny his judgment and try to get you to deny God as well. But remember God’s promise to Noah to keep him safe. This can inspire you to trust God for deliverance in the judgment that is sure to come.
Tyndale. Chronological Life Application Study Bible NLT (Kindle Locations 79017-79038). Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.. Kindle Edition.
In the New Testament the notes are better, but in my view other study bibles are much better.

FYI: It’s the chronological LASB which condenses the notes a little bit to leave room for chronologies.

What's it like in the Gospels where I imagine chapters get blended together in the Chronological Bible. Do the Chronological Notes work okay with a standard Bible?

How come I've just noticed Logos do offer the Life Application Study Bible notes. They're in the 2023 Best Books sale which went live today. Unfortunately they are the previous edition (2007), but better than nothing I guess.

In addition to the review saying much is the same, it also notes:
There are a lot of substantial changes as well. Most of this is adding to what readers already liked and used. There are new notes, new maps, new profiles, and new background information.
It deals with more of today’s issues than the previous editions, including some that were taboo 30 years ago like shame and abuse of power within the church. They have updated some of the language so it sounds more like the way people today speak and write (using we instead of you should, for example). Some of the example situations and illustrations have been updated to reflect things that are more common now or are unique to our time.
When the original Life Application Bible was created most readers were married. Since that isn’t true today they have added content and edited content to be more relevant to single people.
In total, about 30 to 40% of the content is new material.
I have the 3rd edition in OliveTree, but grabbed the Logis version simply because I like to have as much as possible in my Logos app, plus I do wonder if the resource may be withdrawn and who knows if the 3rd edition will be made available.

I preordered and then cancelled right away 🙈 Logos still has me regretting the last time I spent over $30 on a preorder. Probably best for me to wait to see how this one turns out. I own the regular LASB but in epub.

The LASB Chrono ships 7/31! I am curious how it will work though as it pictures the 3rd edition but talks about the 2nd edition in the about. It also lists it as a Logos Reader edition though a research edition would make better sense for a study bible... no?

Even if it was a “Research” edition the graphics are still going to be useless! I hope that now that we will be paying for features in a subscription model Logos can finally get a boost in the graphics department.

This allows you to save the image on your computer. You can then open it and zoom/browse it using any suitable image viewer on your computer.
Not perfect, Logos could definitively do better. But as a workaround for me this makes all the difference and images become usable again.

Logos Chronological Life Application Study Bible is great !!
Nevertheless, main shortfall I see with the Logos Chronological Life Application Study Bible :- It is missing the chronological NLT text and its accompanying surface text, which makes casual or reference chronological reading more complicated and feels a partial product only compared to the original Chronological Life Application Study Bible. (No, a chronological reading plan is not an equivalent for me to the clean chronological NLT text with its its accompanying surface text as in the original).
Other small inconsistencies :
- Font size varies quite a bit across various sections. Sometimes very small, sometimes quite big. Feels a bit weird.
- It is categorized as Notes instead of a Study Bible, so it does not get listed together with other Study Bibles in the parallel books drop-down in Logos.
0 -
That being said, I've compiled the Chronological Bible as Personal Book as described here :
https://community.logos.com/forums/t/79994.aspx
Its chronological arrangement is not as granular as the original NLT Chronological Life Application Study Bible, but this is a very valuable addition, and it allows to choose the desired Bible version ! Scrolling is not perfect though due to the dynamic text generation.
If someone already took the pain to generate a similar PB with the same arrangement of the NLT Chronological Life Application Study Bible, I'd be happy to get it ! [:)]

I was also surprised the resource didn’t include the NLT text in matching chronological order as the book description states “Chronological format: includes the arrangement of the Bible text in chronological order and special section introductions” at https://www.logos.com/product/256529/chronological-life-application-study-bible-notes?queryId=cc0061492a64dafd77151362be4b1f1d.
Logos support recommended a linked set, which really doesn’t work well if one wants to read through the Bible in chronological order as a devotion. The notes don’t designate where one reading begins and another ends from a given book before the text would jump to another book. The study notes provide some guidance but not precise guidance. One would never know if they were missing verses at the boundaries. This is particularly a challenge in the gospels. Further, one would expect to scroll the NLT text and have the notes follow rather than scroll the study notes and have the text follow (and jump all over the place).
I would also read off of mobile, which doesn’t appear to support dynamic text.
If others would like to see the NLT in matching chronological order, I‘ve created a book request you can upvote at https://feedback.logos.com/boards/logos-book-requests/posts/chronological-nlt-to-match-chronological-life-application-study-bible.

I had the same hope, given the product description and the fact that the other non-chronological Bible texts are not a real/fully equivalent alternative. Logos seem to copy/paste the description of the original product in several cases, without updating it to reflect the exact product in Logos when they only provide a subset as it is the case here. I had the same experience with another study Bible where the product description advertised maps, etc. and only study notes where provided in Logos.
I notified Logos, but they did not seem to really get the issue.

The NLT Chronological Study Bible on Kindle provides the chronological Bible text.
As a complement to the Logos NLT Chronological Study Bible Notes, I recommend the NLT One Year Chronological Study Bible.
It provides the full NLT chronological Bible text in 365 daily readings, with a few introduction notes and concluding questions for each day.
It also provides a canonical Bible index to quickly jump from a Bible book and chapter reference to the chronological text at the right location.
Very nice format that is well suited for chronological reading of the Bible, in daily readings or casually.https://www.amazon.fr/Year-Chronological-Study-Bible-English-ebook/dp/B09TQ3MHWB
I would love to have that one in Logos.

I am further refining and improving the One Year Chronological Bible Personal Book. I am splitting long passages into individual chapters, so finding and reading each chapter is much cleaner. Also, this improves sync with Study Bibles notes or commentaries. I like the result !
So far, I've only updated the month of January. But this gives a feel of what will come. Only thing is that this is time consuming, so will progress as time permits.
