Logos mobile app keeps crashing for apple devices

The app has started working for me again! I think it was about a couple updates ago. Thank you very much! - Rich

App still dysfunctional, keeps crashing on startup - not sure if it is trying to index, download or update resources? It hangs showing the login screen and after a while it just crashes. It seems with every new release, it is going one step backwards. I think most users have gave up on raising these issues, they have just moved on somewhere else.

Diederick, we are investigating. It looks like you may be experiencing a different root issue now. Thank you for your patience.

It seems like logos is now completely broken. Even the offline capability to use the iPad’s dictionaries has been removed. I have also noticed that on most of the ratings of bible apps on the web, logos always features at the tail end. I thought I have invested in a solid product, but wasted my money.

I am sorry to hear that these problems are continuing, Diederick.
While not a solution have you tried using app.logos.com in the interim?

Deiderick has more than 10000 resources downloaded (or has attempted such).

As I am involved in retreats in remote areas where there is not always an internet connection available, I am reliant to use the downloaded app version to access my resources. Recently I have started to use alternative apps and needed to re-purchase resources to ensure they are available to me when needed. Logos does not seem to be a solution to me anymore.

I understand your frustration. I understand your desire. I don't understand your unwillingness to try and make it work. If you want to be done with it, then be done with it. If you want to try and get your Logos investment working, don't download so many resources.

Diederick, we have created a case for your issue.

Additionally, we have not removed this capability, we have just slightly changed the behavior to better operate with new iOS versions. You can still access the iOS dictionary offline by long-pressing on a single word and tapping Open the iOS dictionary. See screenshot below.

Hi JT, thank you for your response. I sensed quite a bit of emotion, but would rather stick to the facts as per below:
- I have previously raised a concern more than 5 months ago where no solution was provided to fix the issue experienced with resources not able to be downloaded.
- I have provided logs, a video and everything possible to assist the development team to address the issue.
- I would like to obtain a formal communication from logos stating that the software has a limitation of not be able to download more than xxx resources. If this is the case, a cap should be built in the software to limit the number of resources to be downloaded. Awareness should be made to all existing and new users to manage expectation of the software.
- I feel really frustrated that no solution was forthcoming after all these months; no feedback provided on limitations, possible solutions, etc.
- Your comment “If you want to be done with it, then be done with it.“ – I have stopped purchasing any new resources from logos. As I have made a substantial investment in the logos software, it would be great if I can get a refund and move somewhere else.

Hi Ali, thank you for your response and explanation. Please see additional content to my concern raised pertaining to the use of my mobile devices in offline mode:
- When the “long-pressing on a single word” is used, the content window appears, but no information is available.
- Previously when long-pressing on a single word in off-line mode, it did not show my purchased downloaded dictionary content, but only showed the built-in dictionary content from apple. Currently none are reflecting in the box.
- When pressing on links within a resource to open owned downloaded resource, the app is causing to “hang” and cannot open the resource in off-line mode. This feature was previously functional.

Not from me. I have desired to help you, but you didn't want to take my advice in being limited in your downloads.diederick pütter said:I sensed quite a bit of emotion
Logos official position used to be something like "be judicious in your downloads." They changed their policy to something like "we will support downloading all your resources." However, over many years, I have seen this to be problematic. I believe they should make it official and go back to the original policy stance. In this, I am with you.diederick pütter said:I would like to obtain a formal communication from logos stating that the software has a limitation of not be able to download more than xxx resources. You would have to speak with Logos directly about that via phone or chat.diederick pütter said:it would be great if I can get a refund and move somewhere else

Logos mobile app keeps crashing when updating/downloading resources with the latest version of the software.

Logos mobile app works fine with my 9000+ resources on iphone 15 pro max, but always crash on my ipad 9.7 pro and iphone 8 256GB when downloading new resources. I believe the problem comes from the limited memory size for older devices. Might be a memory mangement issue while indexing? of logos app or ios.

Hi John, thank you for confirming the issue. I believe it might be related to memory while indexing.

Android version app seems to be stable, even with the sluggish and RAM limited Kindle Fire 8 or 10. Get an andoid? If that can be a option to you.

I recently upgraded to the latest iPad Pro with the AI chip and the problem with the download of the resources still remains. It has downloaded my resources up to a point and I cannot proceed with any further downloads. As I have purchased a 2TB drive the disc space is sufficient to store 100 times my logos resources. It tries to download three resources and it keeps crashing. I even tried the “rebuild index” option with no improvement. Logos for apple does have a bug since inception of the launch of the logos mobile app and after all these years could not manage to resolve the issue. Very unprofessional and this represents the quality of the software they put out there.

Diederick, you're understandably frustrated.
But reading your latest:
- Can you tell what the 3 problem resources are?
- If so, on your desktop (don't know if you have one), can you hide the 3, just to test?
- And/or can you tell how many were successfully downloaded before the problem (approximately)?

Hallo DMB? It seems that your profile is private?
However, below some inline comments:
- Can you tell what the 3 problem resources are? Any resources - you download 3 and crash, then you try the next three - it does the same.
- If so, on your desktop (don't know if you have one), can you hide the 3, just to test? not sure why I would do this?
- And/or can you tell how many were successfully downloaded before the problem (approximately)? I have more than 3,000 resources that I would like to download to have offline access.

Well, my idea won't work, if it's any 3 resources.

Just additional information for thinking your problem through. What limitations are there on your internet connection? Do you live in a country where the government may control Christian resource access?

I have a Fibre - 75 Mbps connection. Currently residing in South Africa - not aware of any restrictions on Christian resources. I do believe the issue experienced is software related. My concern is that with the latest and fastest device that I have acquired, the issue still remains (details covered as part of the history of this log. Either logos software development team do not have a solution, or they treat it as not important.
I do believe that if you purchase resources, you should at least be able to download it to your devices - that is a basic and standard function of all resource related app functions. As mentioned previously, I have a 2TB hard drive iPad Pro with the AI chip technology. The hardware is fully capable, the logos software is problematic. This issue has been raised many times over the years and still logos software development team is ignoring it. Normally client's that use software houses move on to a different software house or replace their software architecture with something modern that can do the trick.

Like you I have an iPad Pro with M-class chip (my storage space is not as large as yours)
I've just tried downloading four books at random - one after the other - and they all downloaded without any problem and the app continued to function.
How are you triggering the download? Are you, for example, selecting a number of resources and trying to download them at the same time?
I'm trying to see if I can identify any differences between what you are doing and what I am doing to see if that has any bearing on the problem you are seeing.

When I download resources on my iPad it shows that the resources were downloaded, but when I select the options of "Not downloaded" and "digital library" it still appears. When you download via the iPad it crashes after the third download and normally the first two will be downloaded and the last one you need to be removed and downloaded it again. Now this is happening with all the resources, and I cannot download any new resources to my physical drive. I normally select 10 resources to be downloaded simultaneously.

I normally select 10 resources to be downloaded simultaneously.
I'm afraid I really don't understand why you are getting the problems you are.
I've just selected 10 resources on my iPad and downloaded them - it worked fine and they appeared correctly when I used filters. And I was able to "undownload" resources as well.
So for this to happen for you on different iPads seems very strange - I'm afraid I can't think of any reason why this is happening. Which I know isn't much help!
Sorry, Graham
