Another tip of the day (TOTD) series for Logos/Verbum 10. They will be short and often drawn from forum posts. Feel free to ask questions and/or suggest forum posts you'd like to see included. Adding comments about the behavior on mobile and web apps would be appreciated by your fellow forumites. A search for "L/V 10+ Tip of the Day site:community.logos.com" on Google should bring the tips up as should this Reading List within the application.
This tip is inspired by the forum post: Allowing two-radical Hebrew roots or one-letter Greek words in a morph search - Logos Forums
The gist of the thread:lemma.h:שֵׁם.1 works and is the full form.
lemma.h:שֵׁם. Omit the 1 and it still works, with the drop down list giving you the option to select the full form.
lemma:שֵׁם. Omit the h and it fails to work because the list of options is too long i.e. it fails because of a performance driven choice.
The same principle applies to roots.
The take-away: if you are using an abbreviated form in Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, or Syriac and it fails, try the full form or at least add the language code before assuming an error.
