rebuilding library

Logos 4 has been crashing for me a couple of minutes after starting for the last couple of betas, even if I don't do anything. Since it's unlikely that it's doing this for everyone, I thought it might be worth trying to rebuild my library. Unfortunately I have 4 GB of data, so downloading it all is not attractive. Is there a way somehow to reimport the resources from an old copy but do enough reinitialization that it will likely work?

Most unlikely to help and is also quite boring.

Have you tried opening the program with the command key held down and then using start with blank layout.

You might find that you can track down the route of your problem that way.

On the other hand, if you really want to help your neighbour? It would be good to post your logs here in the forum and let the developers sort out the underlying cause - that way it stops it happening to you and it stops the same thing happening to others.

On the whole, posting logs is the Christian thing to do.

Concur rebuilding not likely to help - since many items sync'd with Logos servers, anticipate crash returning - would like to see console messages.

Forum http://community.logos.com/forums/t/6731.aspx has tutorial for posting a zip file.

Likewise wonder about starting Logos with blank layout - know some have had Home page issues (get Web Section) while others had layouts with issues.

Well, the directory shown there doesn't exist, the list of files doesn't include the actual crash dump, and an attempt to attach a file to a posting here fails.

But I've put something relevant in http://geneva.rutgers.edu/~hedrick/logos-crash.tar

Starting with a blank startup didn't help.

I'm back to rebuilding.

Logos 4 logging directory path is /Users/<user id>/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Logging (user specific Library, not Library for all users).

For rebuilding, could copy existing resources to shared folder or external drive, then use rest of Copy Logos 4 Resources to Mac OS X => http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_Multiple_Macs

Almost certainly not the same situation Christopher - the last post would have involved the use of one of the Beta releases. If you are using 4.0b then it is likely to be a different problem (even if the symptoms are the same).

If, on the other hand you are still using an old version you should update to the latest version and see if the problem persists.

Have you tried opening with a blank layout as per the posts above?

In any case you should post your crash logs - I would suggest to a new thread - with an explanation of what actually happens.
