BUG: Leftover anchors after removing highlights

I've noticed that when I remove a highlight from some text, there will still be an anchor left in that spot. I've now got a massive pile of unnecessary anchors cluttering up the Notes tool. Is there any way of making sure that an anchor associated with a highlight will be removed when the highlight is removed?

Cheers.

Anchors for that highlight should be removed when it is deleted.

How do you remove a highlight? How do you know that an anchor is left "in that spot"?

I use a purple highlight on a single word in a book as a bookmark, and remove it when I continue to read. All of these formerly highlighted words are there when I open the note tool, as an anchor but no longer highlighted.

I have no problem whether I Erase the highlight or use the Context Menu. How do you remove them?

Please ulpoad a screenshot of the Notes tool that shows a highlight:-

    1. after you have applied it to a word, and
    2. after you have removed the highlight.

Don't know if this is helpful (lastest MACOS, latest Verbum)

I did as the OP described:

    - Highlighted a single word (Settings > Word level)

    - Closed Verbum; re-started

    - Used the right-click to delete the highlight

    - Checked the Notes tool; highlight still listed

    - Closed Verbum and re-opened; same.

    - Also checked the Notes trash; not in there (if should be?)

I don't know that much about the Notes tool ... eg an entry being white vs yellow. In screen copy below, the screen copy after deleted the single word highlight 'Jewish' in the second line of the text.

I forgot to ask if the OP was on Mac.

It should be if Verbum deleted it properly.

In screen copy below, the screen copy after deleted the single word highlight 'Jewish' in the second line of the text.

It has only removed the visible highlight style. You can click the vertical three-dot icon in the Toolbar and select "Delete this note".

    .

It has been reported, but I can't remember what the resolution was (I don't get much success when searching the forums).

    It's a MacBook, I should have said...

I've attached screenshots as you've asked, showing "Jesus" highlighted and then the remaining anchor (if that's what it is) after removing the highlight.

I hope that's clear enough, cheers.

Yes. It is the same issue as I noted above for Denise. The workaround is to manually delete from the Notes tool.

That's disappointing, but not surprising. A pity I didn't pay more attention before it got out of hand, but that's my problem.

Thank you all for your input, very helpful.

    Cheers!

The workaround is to manually delete from the Notes tool.

The other workaround is to use Shift+Cmd+K, which will do the following:

    • If you have added any text to the note, it will just clear the highlighting.
    • If the note just consists of the highlighting, it will delete the note

It seems unexpected to me that the selection menu would leave behind empty notes. I've created a case to fix this.
