Desktop App Not Opening
Hi,
I have been using Logos for a few years but one day a few weeks ago the app stopped opening. When I double click on the app icon, the start-up box appears as if the program is opening but then it just disappears and the program does not start. I think I am using Logos 9 (but I can't actually find that information anywhere).
I have a Mac but am using the Windows version of Logos through Parallels (this is due to my having other programs I work with alongside Logos that only have PC compatible versions - it is easier to toggle between the programs with them all sitting together in the virtual desktop).
I tried starting up the program holding down the command key (and also tried holding down the control key) but nothing happens when I do this.
Please help!

There are too many unknowns as you likely have an unsupported version of Logos in an unknown version of Parallels.
You need to update to the latest version of Logos (free) which means that your version of Parallels must support Windows 10 or Windows 11.

which means that your version of Parallels must support Windows 10 or Windows 11.
...and it must be a version of windows which is still supported by Microsoft.

Thanks JT and Dave. I am running Windows 11 Pro so that shouldn't be an issue, but I can't figure out how to find what version of Logos I am running. When I look at my order history it says that I have Logos 9 Basic but then updated to Logos Free Edition in Feb this year. Is that a version of Logos 10?

One suggestion is shutting down Parallels followed by restarting Mac. After MacOS restart, open Parallels & see what happens when opening Logos app.
If Logos app does not open, does Parallels and/or MacOS need updating ?
If Logos app does not open after updating Parallels and/or MacOS, then

Curious about Windows 11 Pro version ?

Logos needs a supported version of Windows 11 Pro: e.g. 22H2 or newer (version 21H2 has 10 Oct 2023 End Date).

Dave - Can you help Amy know how to check her version of Logos? It is different than on Mac.
AFAIK, it comes from Help > About Logos on the main toolbar.

Thanks - I'll investigate to make sure the version I am using is actually the supported one!

I have managed to get it working. I thought I would try the shut down, reopen Parallels one more time and this time it did the trick (even though it didn't work last time I tried...it's a mystery!)
Thanks for trying to help, everyone! And now I am in, I will try to figure out what version I am using in case I have dramas again in the future.

That won't work for her because the program menu would be "parallels" instead of Logos.
That's okay, I found it. There is a special menu in the bottom left hand corner of the program which has an About Logos option. This doesn't tell me if I am running Logos 9 or 10 but it gives me the software version number - 29.0.14 - which I believe I need to update to version 29.1.22.
Thanks again for your help!

That version scheme arose after the Logos 10 launch, where the the numbers started at 22 and rise by 1 with each release. So you have v29 and v29.1 (or 29.1.22) is an update/fix, which you should acquire ASAP.

Dave gave you the answer already, but a bit more background.
Faithlife used to use the "Logos X" terminology in so many places that it made it difficult to communicate. For example, what does it mean that someone was running "Logos 9?"
- Their software engine?
- Their feature sets?
- Their Library?
This also led customers to wrongfully not upgrade their software because they didn't make a purchase of a new feature set and/or library.
Moving forward, the software engine has been divorced from the "Logos X" terminology. Users should no longer say that they are running "Logos 10" for their software engine... unless of course they have not updated!

...and new releases are about every 6 weeks.
I was going to insert "major" i.e. with each major release, which occurs about every 6 weeks[:D]

Ah right. Thanks for that extra information. That's helpful to know.
I just restarted the app and it has now updated to 29.1.22 so I think (hope) all should be good now.
