Best Way to import Sermon Transcripts

A pastor who died in the last year gave me his print library and I have a whole library of his sermons.

I would like to import them somehow into Logos making them searchable. I have read about two different ways I could possibly do this.

1. Notebooks: I could make each sermon a note

2. Personal Books: I could make each sermon a chapter.

Is there another way to do this or a better way? Or some tips on things I might want to do when I try to import them so that I make them easier to find/use in the future without having to go back and redo work?

I'm not aware of any changes in functionality in this area.

If you are interested in importing tables, please be aware that the Notes tool doesn't support these

And if you go down the Personal Book route, these are not available on either the web or mobile apps - I don't know if that is important to you.

So only Notes and Sermons would be available desktop/web/mobile? That is important to me.

I didn't think about Sermons because I wouldn't be preaching. I was more interested in if he had written a sermon on a passage I would be able to use his sermons as a commentary.

Would Sermons have all the functionality of Notes and more basically? I can go read indepth but could you give me a keyword or bullet list on what I gain by importing as Sermons?

Since I don't preach I have never used that feature.

Probably adding titles would be a big one. I don't see how to do that in Notes.

If you did do this by creating a note anchored on the passage you would get an icon in the passage showing that there was something to review. This isn't there if you have a sermon on a passage.

But they do show up in the Sermons section of a Passage Guide (in the Sermon Documents sub-section) along with other sermons on that passage you may have in your library

So in that sense they are working in a similar way to a commentary - recognising that one of the standard ways to find commentaries referring to a passage is to use a Passage Guide.

No - in that notes have icons that indicate where they appear in the text or can be linked to a specific portion of text.

In a note you can add a general hyperlink to another book in your library or something external to Logos which you can't do in a sermon document.

But, as you mention, titles aren't supported in Notes whereas each sermon has a title and the option of applying a range of additional tagging - such as linking the sermon to different topics.

So the functionality is not the same, but they each address different requirements.
