Problem with installing Logos as user, can only install as admin

Greetings!

I'm trying to install Logos and running into a roadblock.  I understand from this thread that it's not possible to install on one Windows account and use the software on another account.  That seems to be the source of my problem.

I first tried installing on my user account, using "Run as administrator".  My daily user account does not have administrator permissions. (Because that's a major security problem!).  The installation stalled when the installer tried to download files.

I then moved to my admin account and installed it from there.  I selected the Custom installation option because I wanted to be able to see where it would be installed.  To my horror, I saw that it wanted to install program files to a user directory!!!  This is horribly BAD PRACTICE!  It's so bad that even Microsoft figured it out as far back as Windows 95!  Program files should go in the Program Files directory!!!   User data in user folders, program files in the Program Files directory!  That's why they exist!

Okay, amazed rant OFF.  Big Smile

But that aside, since I saw that it wanted to install to the admin directory, I changed that to install to my daily user directory.  The installation appeared to proceed without any problem, and I verified that the files are where I directed them.

However, when I logged out of the admin account, and signed back in to my user account, I found no sign of Logos.  Nothing.  Zip.  Zilch. Nada.  It's not in my Start Menu, and searching for it finds nothing.

This is Windows 10, BTW.

So...... any suggestions?

Hi Mark - and welcome to the forums

Logos is designed be installed as a user and not as administrator.

Bradley did comment on this in https://community.logos.com/forums/p/77180/540141.aspx#540141 and https://community.logos.com/forums/p/77180/540141.aspx#540141 - it is an old thread but it seems to explain the practice.

Is your computer in a Windows domain with policies that limit installation into the app data area?
