Prologue of John as a midrash
I know midrash is a genre but from where is my question. How does midrash work? In the Jewish Annotated New Testament Daniel Boyarin has a article titled "John's Prologue as Midrash." I am trying to determine more research availability in Logos. How can I do this? I have tried to do some searching but I cannot find anything other than a few dictionary articles about Midrash. Am I doing something incorrectly?

The best way to understand midrash is to read midrash - no amount of theory will make you understand how midrash works until you actually read midrash at work. My favorite introduction to midrash is an out of print children's book that you might find in a public library:
-
Does God Have a Big Toe?: Stories About Stories in the Bible by Marc Gellman and Oscar de Mejo
A book in Logos that has a similar function would include:
Then I'd suggest moving to simple explanations of the method:
- Searching for Meaning in Midrash | Logos Bible Software
- Practicing Midrash: Reading the Bible’s Arguments as an Invitation to Conversation | Logos Bible Software
At this point you should be comfortable with something more academic such as:
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
