Text Comparison and Top Bibles on mobile

If I use the Text Comparison Tool on my iPhone, with Top Bibles selected, instead of seeing five Bibles I get 10!

I believe I have seen this discussed before but forget if there was any resolution.

Is this a known issue or does the mobile app behave differently to desktop in this regard?

Thanks, Graham

The weekly bump of posts without responses in an effort to get a response.

I just brought this up in another Logos group. It seems there is no way of changing your "Top Bibles" in the mobile app. Can only change in the on line web page/app and the desktop software/program.

Hi Calvin - and welcome to the forums

I just brought this up in another Logos group. It seems there is no way of changing your "Top Bibles" in the mobile app. Can only change in the on line web page/app and the desktop software/program.

This is a different issue - in that Top Bibles are your five highest prioritised Bibles and we can't change prioritisation on mobile. If you would like this functionality, I suggest voting for it at https://feedback.logos.com/boards/logos-mobile-app/posts/library-resource-prioritization-on-mobile

The point I was making in this thread was that instead of just showing the Top 5, the Top Bibles selection is showing 10 Bibles in the Text Comparison tool

Hi Graham. This is actually intended behavior. A few years ago, we changed this behavior to show more than 5 Bibles.

Hi Ali - thanks for getting back to me and letting me know.

A few years ago, we changed this behavior to show more than 5 Bibles.

I will admit, though, that I find it strange to have mobile and desktop doing something different when using the same tool.

Hi, are there any plans that these difference between mobile and desktop will be solved in future?

    Thank you, Daniel

As of right now, we do not have plans to bring mobile and desktop to parity.

As there seem to be no plans to make basic customization of the Text Comparison tool available on the Mobile App (where I think it is the most necessary actually), a workaround in the meantime could be (at least for iOS, I am not sure how this is done on Android) to open app.verbum.com from the mobile bowser, go to the Text Compare tool, customize the selections, and under "Share" in the browser create a Home Screen link that can be used instead of the Mobile App for the custom Text Compare functionality from the iPad/iPhone.

Thank you for this hint. I also figured out that the web-version has some functionalities which the mobile version doesn’t have. This seems strange to me using both on my iPad.

    Why is there a difference?

I am using Logos only on my iPad. I don’t have a computer. I avoid buying additional packages with such issues.

Thank you and God bless you.

    Why is there a difference?

When one uses the app.logos.com every function that is not built into the browser is done on the online servers and the results fed back to the device. This leads to a richer experience than can be obtained by the app where the bulk of the processing is done on the device.

I stumbled upon a solution to selecting Bibles for the Text Comparison. It is easy, but tedious:

    1. In the bottom menu, R corner, tap 3-line More icon.
    2. Scroll down to Set Top Bible and tap.
    3. Select the Bible version you want to appear last in your Text Comparison order.
    4. Close the app, then reopen - you will see that version appear at the top of the Text Comparison list.
    5. Repeat steps 1-4 for each version you want to add. Each subsequent version selected will appear at the top of the list. On the final repeat, select your favorite version as the Top Bible, and it will appear above all the others.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it works for you.
