Hyperlink local files in Personal Book

I have several links to local files on my computer that I would like to convert to a personal book so I can access them from inside Logos. Mostly pdfs, but also some mp3 files, etc. I've been able to get a few files to become hyperlinks in Word, but it requires a manual "return." But, when I import it to a personal book, the hyperlinks, though they show us, are not clickable.

Is this still not an option in personal books?

I'm using this format:

file:///Users/username/Desktop/folder1/folder2/filename.mp3

Converting a file to a personal book and linking to a file inside a personal book are different things. You may want to take a look at the Wiki page https://wiki.logos.com/Personal_Books which has information on how to build a personal book, as well as how to incorporate types of links in the docx source file that is compiled into a personal book via the PBB tool in Logos.

If you just want to be able to open a local pdf file on your computer from inside Logos, you could use the Favorites tool in Logos. Dragging the file link into Favorites will then allow you to open the file in the associated app by clicking on the link in Favorites.

To add to the good advise Wolfgang already gave: as far as I know, it is not possible to link to local files from a Personal Book (that's the case for years now and mainly is due to OS security ), however, you could link in an URL-style if you were operating a local server where the files are made available to you, or if you have them in the cloud - or they are from the internet anyway, such as sermon recordings and other such audio sources. There are a number of PBs where users indexed such external content, and it would work to build a PB with such URL-style links.

Regarding PDFs, I would recommend simply opening them with MS Word. If the PDF contains actual text (as opposed to scanned images of pages), Word will usually open them just fine. Then, if necessary, clean up as much of the formatting you like, then save as *.docx and build the PB. This will often work great, you'll have the bible verses detected and the full content indexed in Logos - much better than simply having a link to a PDF.

So, this is not a perfect solution, but this is what I came up with. It is possible to drag and drop a folder from my local hard drive into Favorites in Logos. Then I drag that favorites link (to the folder) into the sidebar. I repeat this for all the folders that contain the mp3 files. Then I create a main folder on the sidebar that holds all the subfolders.

Now I can access all those local files, mp3, pdf, etc quickly from the sidebar regardless of where I am in Logos. It is not perfect but it is better than nothing.
