iPad is a much better choice. To get a quality Android tablet you would have to go with Samsung, which costs almost as much.
Apple will support an iPad with OS updates for as long as the hardware can handle them. Some android selling companies will support you through 1 or 2 major OS updates ... but most will not.

I'd recommend Samsung, and the highest spec you can afford, as with any tech. Actually 80% of the market is Android, so that means more development, availability, and tech innovation, and it's not proprietary and locked in the way Apple is. Samsung supports 5 years and 4 OS versions. Having said that, I'm using an older Samsung Galaxy Tab S6+ and it still goes gangbusters. I've got a keyboard/cover & absolutely love the pen, too. You can write on the screen and save your notes and convert them to text. You can also share your phone with the tablet :-)

I have an older Samsung that I've been very pleased with. The support cycle is an issue - mine's outside the support window, which is a bit of a bummer. But it's running an older version of Logos just fine.
Having said that, my sister's family uses Apple products, and seem quite happy with them. I'm bought into the Windows/Android ecosystems, but that's just a personal preference (and it would be expensive for me to switch everything over to Apple products at this point).
If you're not committed to either system at this point, my recommendation would be to look at both and see which you prefer. Whichever way you go, though, I would recommend buying a current model rather than trying to save some money on an older version.

I know Samsung and Apple make newer/faster/more updated tablets that are more expensive. but, if "reading Logos books" is your primary reason for a tablet. I'm on my 3rd Amazon Fire Tablet. 1st HD10 no longer supported, 2nd HD10 still used weekly, 3rd (HD8) is my daily/keep with my journal/address book go to.
When it comes to studying on a Tablet, I bypass ALL the Android/iOS and daily use the Surface Pro 7 to get the full Logos functionality
Making Disciples! Logos Ecosystem = LogosMax on Microsoft Surface Pro 7 (Win11), Android app on tablet, FSB on iPhone & iPad mini, Proclaim (Proclaim Remote on Fire Tablet).

Android has 69.44% (not 80%) of the global market. But iOS has 57.11% of the US Market (meaning Android has less than 43%).
The reason for Androids success is simple ... it is free. Any manufacturer can produce a junk tablet or phone and load Android on it. You can buy an Android phone or tablet for $50. Apple does not sell low priced junk. You get what you pay for.
As far as development tech and innovation, Android is a blatant rip off of iOS. Has been from the beginning, and still is. Apple created the market, then Google jumped in. They didn't even write their own OS, they took the Linux kernel and modified it.
Googles Android devices have promised 7 years of updates, and Apples is basically forever, until the hardware can no longer support it.
I have two old Samsung tablets that are still in perfect working condition, but they are both worthless because there is no Android update for either of them. Neither of them can download and run the latest apps, including Logos. I tried to give them away and nobody wants them.
The only real reason to choose Android over iOS is the price of the device. And if you buy a cheap tablet, you will likely regret it. Best strategy is to select a high quality device with the potential to last a long time, and wait for a good sale.
Best Buy has all 10th generation iPads $100 off right now, which makes the iPad not only superior, but cheaper [:)]

Having used Logos Mobile app on both Samsung (latest model) and iPad (everything from an iPad mini to an iPad Pro 12.9, I can assure you that the iOS version is much better than the Android version in terms of features and stability.
I've also used every major Bible app on both (when available) and if you ever decide to supplement your Logos use with another app you will have a MUCH better experience on iOS. A couple of the Bible apps are barely even supported on Android (cough cough Accordance cough cough).
There are also better apps for note taking, reading, and gaming on iOS than Android. While Android is great on a phone, the tablet apps area mostly Terrible!

If you are reading and looking for an E Ink display, which is like reading on paper, the Boox company has a good line up. I was interested in the Remarkable 2, but it is simply too limited for what I would want to do with it.

What size of tablet do you want?
You say that you want it to read Logos books. If this is the case, you may want a smaller tablet like the iPad mini which won't weigh a lot and will make it easier to hold it when you read.

While some people do appreciate some of the enhancements found in Apple products, others of us do not believe that they are worth the rather large increase in price. If the primary purpose is for reading, the Fire HD 8 works quite nicely. You can also purchase 4 Fire HD 8 devices for the price of 1 iPad mini.

I noticed last week that Walmart are selling the Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite cheaply. This is a great tablet. The only disadvantage long term will be the updates will finish sooner than a newer model.

I have a Lenovo laptop. I thought I wanted a tablet... but bought the Lenovo instead. It's a 14 inch screen. But... it folds all the way back and basically turns into a tablet... which I use somewhat regularly. It works well... has all the power of Logos and Windows 11. You can use stylus, draw, etc.
And I don't care what people say.... Windows is still cheaper than Apple... period! And I don't think I have lost anything by staying with Windows. Apple always has been the pricer of the two... My Lenovo cost (I think...) $900 where as if I remember right at the time, comparative Apple would have cost me $1,400. $500 may not seem must to some, but to me it's a lot!
And I have done everything I want and need to do with my Lenovo!

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 from 2018, and just updated the app (Logos Bible) and it seems to work fine (before and after update), at least for reading. Currently I have a layout of three columns.
