How do I reference two articles to eachother?

I'm reading through Whitefield's Journals & Vol 1 of his Works.

In the attachment on the right is his journal entry for Wednesday, Jan 11, 1738. On the left is a letter he wrote on that day.

How do I make a Note that references one to the other? For example, if I only open his Journals and NOT his Works at the same time, how do make a note that will let me see that there is a reference to that book which I can then go to without opening my library and searching for it?

I would anchor a note to both books. Highlight the date in the book and create a note anchored to that text. Then select the text of the journal article and add that anchor to the same note.

So what you're suggesting is that I anchor a note to both books. Just so I understand. Will doing this let me jump to that resource without opening the Notes tool? Or do I have to open the Notes tool and THEN click that note?

Yes, that'd be my solution. You'll have to click the note in one book, which opens the note tool, and then the link to the next book. It's a total of two clicks.

It's too bad that the notes couldn't jump directly to other resources. Much like footnotes do.
