Is there a way to integrate the Oxford English Dictionary into Logos? I have the concise version in my Logos but sometimes it does not fit the bill.
This works better if you are running windows. You can use it with Mac but it works differently.
You also have to "Buy" the dictionary.
What is "It" you ask" It is a (running in the) background dictionary called WordWeb.
You install the app and dictionaries. Then what ever program you happen to be in you use a hotkey/mouse combination to call up the dictionary and look up whatever word your mouse was on when you called it up.
It really works well in Windows. There are multiple dictionaries available. It does work inside Logos but I would suggest sticking with the Logos versions whenever you can.
They sell a version of the Oxford Dictionaries referred to as "The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary". I am not going to post a link in case it violates the forum rules but you can readily fine it on the web.
Edit:
I am having issues with the HotKey/Mouse combo. I still works by copying the word to your clipboard and pasting into the WordWeb app. (This is how I have to do it on my mac.)
There's a request for the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary to be added to Logos that you can vote for:

You can subscribe to the OED online for $100/year. It would be great to have the complete OED integrated into Logos, but it is constantly being updated and is now a subscription-based dictionary. I doubt they would license it to Logos. I don't even think they sell the complete unabridged version in print anymore. There's a 20-volume set from 1989 that you can get second hand for about $800.
Thanks Rosie, I voted.
