Logos 10 - Free vs Foundations vs Starter features

I hope this is the right place to ask this...

I have been enjoying the basic free version of Logos 10 and am trying to find the best way to upgrade. I'm a notorious over-researcher when it comes to purchases, and spend way too much time trying to find the best deal/value.

The feature comparison on the web page only works for Starter on up. I expect that Foundations would have more features than the free version, and like-wise Starter would have more than Foundations at about 6x the price. Or do they all actually share the same feature set?

The books are easier to sort out, I'm mainly concerned with features. My first instinct is to pick up Foundations and then maybe a Bronze level Legacy Library. Starter is really probably out of my budget-range, but I could maybe swing it if there were some must-have features. I'll use it mostly for personal study and occasionally teaching at our small house church.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, and this is definitely the right place.

By 'Foundations', do you mean the Fundamentals package? If so, then yes, Fundamentals should have more features than the free engine, and the Starter package has more features and books than Fundamentals. While Fundamentals is not included in the Compare tool, you can scroll down the pages for both packages to see the features and books you'll be getting in each one.

I would like to add another question on the same topic.  What is included in the monthly subscription to Logos Explore?  How does Explore compare to the purchase packages?

It seems to be another FL subscription but not a Connect one: https://app.logos.com/pricing. The page gives no details on what books or specific features are included.

If you’re talking about my initial post, I had a birthday $ off coupon and ended up picking up Fundamentals and the Legacy 9 Starter library. I haven’t used it extensively yet but it’s really nice having more commentaries than the free basic version. I never did find a way to compare these lower versions well except to just go see what’s included in one individually. It’d be nice to have the side by side comparison for all versions. Either way, if you‘re getting started, watch the included tutorial video series, it’s very helpful.

Wow, what a mystery!  After almost 20 years with Libby/Logos, and umpteen features and resources, I could not even guess what each item was!  It seems like a TV show 'Guess that Feature!'

    Hi J

There is much talk about Features on these forums and they are often treated as a goal in themselves.

However there is no value in a feature that you don't need and little reason to want a feature that you will not use.

My advice would be to keep and eye on the forums and training videos and when you come across a feature that you will use often then seek out the package that contains that feature and save up to purchase it.

I would have a side bet with you (if I were a betting man) that most of the folk who want to 'own' their features actually have little use for them.

I’m going to highlly recommend calling the 800 number and work with them to find what is best for you and however much you want to spend.  There was a particulary study bible I was wanting to get and they found me a package that was $10 more that gave me several more books, plus a collection the company who made the study bible.  Well worth the call.
