Tyndale Commentaries

I use both the Mac and Windows version of Logos 4 but I have a problem that only occurs on the Mac side.

I am unable to prioritize the entire Tyndale Commentary Collection in my library.

In other forums I have seen Windows users discuss "metadata" but I can't find a "metadata" file for Logos on my hard drive.

What happens when you select prioritize from the context menu? could you take a screen shot with the prioritize part of the My LIbrary panel viewable?

How are you accomplishing this on Windows? If there's a means of prioritization we don't support, we'll need to add that feature. Also, resource prioritizations should sync, so if you can do this on Windows, it should sync and be prioritized the same way on Mac assuming you're using the same Logos 4 account.

metadata is not in a separate file that I'm aware of, it is embedded in the resources themselves. It includes things like book type, author, publisher, etc. Each resource has this metadata filled in. To this end the resources for Mac and Windows are identical, it's the Logos program that is different on each system.

In windows you can either prioritize the book or the series (see pic).

I do not have this series so I can't test to see if it's a metadata issue.

Also, Logos4Win also prioritizes Series by default when dragging-and-dropping a member resource in the Preferred List. To force only the single resource to be prioritized, Logos4Win requires that you hold down the CTRL key while dragging-and-dropping. Could that also be a problem?

Thank you for the clarification on "metadata."

In L4 for windows, when select a resource within the Tydale Commentary Series I am given the option to prioritize the entire series, not just one volume of that series.

Here is a screen shot of L4 for Windows, in VM Ware Fusion, with the option to prioritize the entire Tyndale Commentary Series.

Also is a screen shot of L4 for Mac without the option to prioritize the entire Tyndale Commentary Series.

Actually the metadata is stored separately from the resources, in a database, so that it can be updated on the fly without requiring a new resource download.

(database location: <path to Logos dir>/Logos4/Data/<userkey>/Updates/Metadata.db )

It's possible that the "Series" metadata info is missing for one or more of the Tyndale commentaries, and that would cause the menu item not to show up.

The Tyndale commentaries have had Series metadata problems in the past. Plus the metadata updates have been a bit flaky in getting things current. (See this thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/20508/154421.aspx )

Robert, can make your library window wider so we can see the "Series" column?

Then that's the problem. You need to get a metadata update. I can't help you there. The devs will have to give you guidance, but that's been a problem on the Windows side, too (as you can see from the thread I referenced, and others). There's no programmatic way to force a metadata update. Some have had success deleting the Metadata.db, but I can't recommend that without a developer's blessing.

Hello All,

Thank you all for taking the time to help me out with my problem.

I moved the metadata file to the trash, but did not empty it, then I restarted my system.

After starting L4 I was able to the changes immediately, I can now prioritize the Tyndale Commentary Series.

Here is the screen shot, see previous posts for the "before" images.
