Who in the forum has read The New Testament in Antiquity: A Survey of the New Testament within Its Cultural Contexts, 2nd ed. by Gary M. Burge; Gene L. Green? I have read many reviews on the book but it did not satisfy my needs for what I am looking for.  I would like to know if it deals with social control, leadership and following Christ in the New Testament world.

Here's what I found when I searched this book...

    "social control" = no results

    "social status" = 10 results

In Chapter 4: "The Mediterranean World of the Apostle Paul," > The Order of Society -- there is brief discussion of slaves, honestiores (senators), humilore (free people), patrons and clients, citizens and aliens, and the family

"leadership" = 49 results. A quick scan suggests most of these results revolve around Paul.

    "following Christ" = 1 result.

Unless you want a NT survey with some emphasis on the ancient world, this is probably not the book you want for the above topics.
