Startup crash

I've had a few startup crashes today. This is new, I've previously had almost no crashes. It crashed once this morning then started up okay. At the moment I'm unable to get into the program because of crashing as soon as things start. I did get a message earlier about updates waiting to install. I was already running beta 4 with the big updates installed so I'm not sure what this last little update was.
I see some other startup crashes listed in this forum so perhaps there's a cold going around.
Libronix 4 beta 4 on an iMac, 2 gig ram, running on Windows Vista through VMWare Fusion 2.0.5 Have not changed any settings lately.
