Early Access: Disappointing result from AI Search

The search word does not appear in the result snippet. The word appears three paragraphs later in a context that is returned with a Precise Search! I did not want to read a bizarre critique of the environmentally friendly "Green Bible".

The 31 magazines all come from subscription.

Interesting - precise went to the right place, smart went to the beginning of the section as Daves picture shows. Same here.

Here is a similar result in a journal (same query):

The search word is 3 pages away (p.85)! Which reminds me that page numbers are missing from Smart Search.

I don't do it normally, but I have learnt not to search magazines and journals because results frequently occur in the context of a book review.

Thanks for the report. Smart Search generally works best with large numbers of resources and queries that are more specific than a single keyword. We'll see if we can optimize this scenario better, but if you're using a single keyword, Precise Search is likely to be a better bet.

But it should be precise with the location of a match, rather than picking some unrelated text....

In a sense, you are saying we won't mind/see the chaff amongst the more abundant wheat. The magazine result comes in halfway through the abundant results of a search that also includes Encyclopedias (102 books), so a single keyword is not the issue!

Results for dispensationalism Scofield are more focused, but eventually begin to return "dispensationalism" without "Scofield" (and vice-versa), so 4 magazine results are also returned, but the previous "Green Bible" result came good because I also wanted "Scofield"! I think some optimization is needed for the single keyword.

It handles both but I have found that the more concise the better. Also use quotation marks around the main topic if it is multiple words. I sometimes just select text from the bible and run a book smart search and have been getting good result if the verse had most of the key ideas in it. Long questions in my experience provide the most useless hits.

I think you found the answer. Question words become search terms and Search keywords (AND/OR etc.) will switch the query to Precise Search
