Passage Guide woes

Please can someone help. I'm stuck trying to work how to cut down my PG on initial run. Every time I close unwanted elements of the PG (like Music, Sermons, etc) because they take forever to run and aren't needed all the time, they seem to reappear whenever I link to a new passage. I've tried creating new templates (but can't seem to find a way to save a default) and just about everything else. (Just about being the operative phrase, as obviously I've not yet found the correct way Wink )

So please, those in the know, how do I create a custom, slimline PG for my main initial run?

Chris,

I'm not sure how different the windows version looks than the Mac version on this particular thing....but all you have to do is to choose "Guide>Make a new guide template"

Then you choose sections in that guide....get it the way you want it....

Then name it and it should show up under Custom guides section

There are two possible solutions to this issue:

If you're running your passage guide from the home page (by entering a passage and clicking go), don't: just open the panels you need manually (any custom guide templates you've created should show up on the Guides menu).
Run a passage guide to completion, then collapse any sections that you don't often use (you can collapse a section by clicking on its heading). Guide panels remember the last state of each section, and sections that are collapsed will not generate results until expanded.

I have noticed that if you click on a section that generates and ends up not having any info, it becomes grayed out and you can't collapse the item. Then next time it is not collapsed and generates when you may not want. Is this normal?

Thanks Robert, that seems to have worked but more by luck than judgement. There isn't an obvious "Save" once renamed and it's not obvious how it becomes the default, but that's probably my fault rathr than the program's. Also for some reason my Guides menu is now full of "Untitled Guide" and "Copy of Passage Guide" entries. Where are these and how do I remove them?

It's not so much an issue of defaults as it is having different templates. We have three built-in templates, and you can have any number of your own. Yours will show up below the built-in templates.

These are the new guide templates that you've created. Selecting one will bring up a guide panel that uses that template. They can be deleted by right-clicking (or Control-clicking, if you don't have right-click set up) on the template that you wish to delete and selecting the appropriate option.
