upgrade

I have Logos 3.0g Silver Library. I've also added a number of books. I now pretty much have the library that I want. I'm not interested in expanding. So, can I get the cheapest Logos 4 upgrade, and simply transfer the library I have? Or will I lose some of my library, because I didn't upgrade "Silver to Silver" so to speak? I'm a bit confused on this.

If you upgrade to the minimal package every book you currently have in L3 will remain available to you in L4. This will be true regardless of which package you upgrade to.

If you don't upgrade at all and just download the Logos 4 engine you will have access to almost all your resources. However, there will be some that you will not we able to access. Biblical People etc will not work. The harmonies/parallel passages don't work because they were built into the program in Libronix but now they are books in Logos 4. The cheapest way to get access to the updated databases that you would otherwise not be able to use in Logos 4 is the Minimal Crossgrade.

Before trying L4, make sure your system meets or exceeds the system requirements.

To download just the Logos4 engine click here: http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/Installer/Logos4Setup.exe

Before doing that, though, you should know that Logos 4 will install onto your C: drive and into your user data files (hidden by default). It will then download all the latest copies of all your licensed resources to a resources folder, after scanning for a default installation of Libronix (Logos 3). This download can take a long time, and may put you over your download caps, if you have them.

You should also know that there are a number of features that are not yet fully functional in Logos4 (see my signature below for what's Missing).

After copying and downloading resources, Logos4 will the index everything. This can take a long time, especially if your system specifications are marginal.

Like Kevin, I strongly encourage you to consider the cross-grade, as that will give you all the functionality of Libronix, plus some very nice tools, resources and features which make the cross-grade a real bargain and greatly enhance your experience of using Logos 4. Of course, you could try the free version first, and then see whether the cross-grade is something you'd like. (As always Logos offers refunds, if you're not fully satisfied.)

Be sure to check out some of the videos (see the link in my signature below), to get you up and running. Logos4 is quite a bit different than Libronix in many ways, so it can take some getting used to. Then, if you're still stuck, feel free to ask on these forums.
