Text Selection Problem in Android
I'm having a problem with text selection in Android that emerged only in the past few weeks. Often, when I drag to select text I want to highlight and the context window (highlighters/copy/note, etc.) opens as intended, the window moves down in the Bible passage and the section I've selected is no longer visible--or only partly visible. This makes it difficult to tell whether it's still selected, I didn't select what I intended, etc. I have to blindly add my highlighting and then review to make sure I got it right.
I hope this can be corrected. It's not a big deal, but it's causing extra steps simply to highlight a passage.

Is the selection menu (context window) covering up the selected text?

Of course, since I posted the problem yesterday it seems to have been largely resolved. Always that way, no?
But not completely resolved. I tested it this morning after receiving your reply, and it happened only one time out of perhaps 20 attempts. When it happens, though, it's not simply a matter of the context menu covering the selection. I believe that happens too with the menu for selecting the reference (which shouldn't happen when selecting--only the bottom context menu should appear), but also the window seems to actually move so that a different section of text appears than what was there before I began the selection. For example, let's suppose my window shows John 18:19-25. If I select and drag near the top of the window, maybe vs. 19 or part of 20, the window shifts and now I'm looking at perhaps mid-verse 20 to vs. 26, and what I selected is out of sight, only partially because of the context menu.
Since I'm having difficulty now recreating the problem very often, I'm not 100% certain what I'm describing is correct. I'll keep trying and see if I can confirm it next time it happens. If it again starts happening often, I'll try to get a screen recording.

Thank you for the details, Kathy. I think I know what you're experiencing. Do you have swipe-to-highlight turned on?
To check, tap on the three vertical dots in the top right corner and tap "View Settings".

Yes, I did - just turned it off. Is this an intentional behavior with that feature (though that would puzzle me since it's intermittent) or a bug?

It is a current workaround for the bug you are experiencing. We have a case created for this issue.
