Freeing up disk space

My PC is having trouble. It says unless I free up space it will not update.I want to try and free up space. I do not know what drive it is downloaded on. It keeps telling me to free up disk space. I deleted all in broswing history and C:\Users\Username\Downloads. I am a bit perplexed on how to fix this issue. Any thoughts? Here are my specs on the laptop.

If you downloaded any course video remove it. If you downloaded other video outside the software delete them. If use an email app make it a practice to delete old email. Finally delete all your temporary files.

I am not really sure how to find this Graham. It says in my PC "Windows SSD (C:) 114 GB used 3.21 GB Free. No videos are downloaded.

If all you have free is just over 3GB then that is a problem.

But this suggests the disk is 128GB and, above, you mention a hybrid hard drive on 1024GB.

How many disk drives do you have in this system, how big are they and how much free space do each of them have?

You should be able to see each drive in Windows Explorer and you can right-click it, and select the Properties tab to see disk space information.

I am not sure how many drives I have. I think I have 2 different drives. I am not a technical kind of person so I do not know what I am seeing. I also have Google Drive and One Drive. I do not think those are usable for Logos Bible Software. I have a Lenovo Legion Y730 Laptop. Also I am running Windows 10. Not sure if that helps any at all. See pictures below.

That shows you have two drives.
C: is a small SSD that contains the operating system and, presumably, your Logos installation.
is a larger conventional drive that has a lot of free space.

The earlier information you provided suggests that this is actually a single physical device containing both of these virtual disks.

I’ve had someone look at it but they were not familiar with Logos Bible Software and said that was not accessible to their system. I really like the software but need it working correctly and efficiently. Could you do it on team viewer or something similar? I’ll be home in 2 hours. Why is it that my drives are this way? And how would it impact it as you say?

Some computer systems are configured this way - with a small SSD partition and a larger conventional hard drive.

One of the major factors in terms of Logos performance is having it installed on an SSD - anything else really slows things down.

And it looks as though your SSD is only 128GB in size and this needs to contain the operating system, other apps you have installed on it and the Logos software.

Logos minimum system requirements are for 30GB free space (necessary for indexing) plus a varying amount depending on the size of your library (As per https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007506971-Logos-Minimum-System-Requirements)

I know that some people do run Logos on a 128GB drive but I think it is always going to be difficult and take quite a bit of effort in terms of disk management. You might need to, for example, to choose to not have all Logos books downloaded to your computer all the time but only choose to download them when you need them.

I think I understand what you are saying. Per this picture it says Logos Bible Software is 722 MB. That is way smaller than 30 GB right? How can I make my SSD bigger? I got this PC because it was meant to be a computer for research and titled as a gaming PC. What do you think is my best option? I can remove Adobe Acrobat as it is not really needed. What can be moved to the D Drive? Also I have a lot of notes and papers on my PC in my documents file. It is at 2.927 GB

You can't make it bigger. Even though it looks like one hard drive in your computer, it is really two in one case. You can get a new SSD the same size as your current setup for about $75 and eliminate the problem entirely.

Otherwise, you can move your documents and stuff to D drive (just Google "move Onedrive to different drive"). You can move any programs that are not drive intensive to the D drive (like Acrobat). The size of Logos in Add/Remove programs is not accurate. It doesn't include your resources. You could uninstall Logos and reinstall it, selecting "Minimal Resources" and only downloading the ones you need.

I think this is simply the size of the installation file; mine is 720MB. Your Logos files should be taking up a lot more than that; mine takes up over 50GB (and my full library is not downloaded).

I keep space open on my computer by keeping the majority of my files in cloud storage (I use OneDrive); I mostly only keep local copies of the files I use frequently and offload all audio and video content. I have synced copies in a portable external drive, so I have access to everything in a pinch if the internet fails me. I have this paranoia of running out of space, so whenever I'm using over 60% of my storage space, I go on a cleaning rampage 🫢

(OT: How do you take your screenshots? They're usually low resolution and difficult to make out details.)

OK I want to not have to invest any extra if possible. I did delete a few things. I do not know what programs are drive intensive. What are these programs? My Logos would not download fully due to no disk space. I unstalled it and got it down to about 63.2 GB. See screencast below. I am going to install Logos again and see where we are at. On the OT request by Yasmin I do a Print Screen command on my PC Keyboard. I never knew another way to do so. Is there a better way to do a screen shot? Thanks everyone for helping me out here.

Customer Support can look at your computer and make changes to Logos. In the meantime:

you should empty the Recycle Bin
run Disk Cleanup (type the name in the Windows Start menu)
get and run a free cleaner like CCleaner

EDIT: If that is not sufficient, the best option would be to install Logos on the \ drive using the Custom option.

Print screen is OK. Then paste into Amber, next to the paperclip icon.

I will be contacting Customer Support later today. I did those three things and got a little better performance. I want to know with what I have if my PC will be able to do what it needs to with Logos fully downloaded and indexed. Any thoughts?

Once again, your screenshots are such poor quality that they cannot be enlarged to be readily readable. It looks like 26 GB free, but I can't comment on your question without further information. Customer Support should be able to help with this.

I also have Google Drive and One Drive.

1. I upgraded years ago because a 128GB SSD was too small for operating system and Logos. But "you do you"

2. I found a HUGE hidden culprit of SSD space was my Google Drive and One Drive settings. If you have them set for "store locally" everything on these virtual drives is also mirrored on local drives (Same with Dropbox and iCloud). My strategy (influenced by reliable broadband) is to delete the Google Drive APP and use Chrome to access these backup files, set the OneDrive and Dropbox to "keep online only"

note:I'm using Win11, but Win10 is VERY similar - rightclick on your "virtual/cloud drives" and check the settings.
