NEW HODDER BIBLE COMMENTARY...

HODDER BIBLE COMMENTARY
It would be great if we could get this in LOGOS
The Hodder Bible Commentary is a comprehensive 50-volume Bible commentary series. Doctrinally sensitive and globally aware, its goal is to encourage a deepened knowledge and understanding of Scripture.
Accessible and insightful expository commentary explores the timeless message of the Bible and applies it to the challenges of today’s world. Written by a range of authors and supported by consultant editors from around the world, it represents a diversity of church and cultural contexts.
With the full text of the NIV Bible interspersed with the commentary for easy reference, this series is ideal for preaching, teaching and personal study.

Exactly! I have so many commentaries, and they’re all quoting each other and restating some old view, or some new view that’s already going around. Nothing new under the sun ☀️ some are not even new series. They’re just rebranded and reformatted and sold as a “new commentary” etc. Examples POSB is the same as the TOSB which is the same as EveryWord Scripture, Outline, Commentary. Or some of The Zondervan Exegetical Commentary volumes that have been reformatted and rebranded. Add to that the new version of the NAC or some of the volumes in the new Evangelical Biblical Theology Commentary. Nothing new under the sun 😂

Ecclesiastes 12:12 (NIV84): 12 Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body. [;)]

and restating some old view,
Interesting, Vincent of Lérins taught me to not want new views but to want the old understanding expressed in a new way.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I, myself, prefer this also. I was just stating what most new commentaries do. Unless it’s a view that challenges my thinking, always prefer the ones that have passed the test of time,

Unintentionally, I know, you piqued my interest in:

I believe you quite like these volumes in their various guises.
The gospel volumes will probably prove most useful to me, plus I like the fact these editions use a more modern translation as the base translation.

Olive Tree has it in a much better format. I already own the entire set of the POSB so I’m good not having this new set 👍
